Exchanged a few messages with a John Tyler coach this evening. He tells me three other Lions have been asked about by Texas staff..

  • Rodney Bendy, 2015, WR - Bendy is a big, physical 6-4 wide receiver. He ended last season with 361 yards, 4 touchdowns on 28 catches. Not eye-popping but the potential is there. Currently committed to North Texas.

  • Geovari McCollister, 2015, ATH/QB - McCollister filled in nicely after John Tyler graduated current Houston Cougar Greg Ward, going 175 of 269, 2615 yards, 22 TD and 6 INT. Also rushed for another 852 yards on 199 carries. Has a chance to play QB at the next level but it's not at a school like Texas. At 6-2, 210 he's being looked at as a ATH/Hybrid-type TE. Currently committed to Central Arkansas.

  • Braylon Jones, DL, 2016 - It's been known for some time that the Horns have shown interest in Jones. The interest has picked up some lately. The 6-3, 280 defensive tackle has a motor on him. Goes hard, all the time. It's a mystery to why his offer list isn't better than what it is. Navy is his only offer at the time. Good grades, good player and a good kid. Ended his breakout campaign with 61 tackles, 8 for loss and 2.5 sacks.

First two guys sound like reaches unless they have superlative physical gifts; 40-time, short-shuttle, vertical jump.  But, hey, who am I to question CFS?  Maybe he likes the grit and competitiveness of JT Lions?  In Strong We Trust

Good info, Mike. Are there any TEs that nobody is talking about that have D-1 potential?
Off the top of my head and in my area I can think of two...

Connor Hobbs (6-4, 215) at TK Gorman. His coach is real high on him. Has the frame to add some weight.

Marquise Guinn (6-4, 230) at Carthage. This kid is really strong and will only grow.. IMO, he's the best TE around here. Will be a JR. this season.

Texas visited both last spring.
