W2W4

We are officially halfway through the college football season. As students across the nation study for their midterms, we will provide you with a nice study break. Here is W2W4 in the Big 12 - Week 8...

Recap of Week 7:

TCU-Baylor helped put the Big 12 on the map

With the Big 12 being an afterthought nationally, the conference got a nice boost in perception with a thrilling 61-58 Baylor win over TCU. I don't blame Gary Patterson for going for it on 4th down with less than 2 minutes to go in the game. TCU's defense wasn't going to stop the Bears going 80 or more yards in 90 seconds. You had to go for the win and being in no man's land didn't help the situation. TCU will be a challenge for every team this season.

Oklahoma State will lose at least 3 more times this season

I guess you could make the argument that the Oklahoma State defense is why they are winning so many games but now they will finally play someone with a pulse when they go to Fort Worth to play TCU.

Oklahoma survives Texas

I think Texas got more out of losing the game than Oklahoma did out of winning the game. Oklahoma has let opponents hang out instead of going for the jugular in many games and it has already bit them once this year, is it going to be a repeat of last year? Time will tell, but if I am Bob Stoops, I would worry about my team and their performance.

West Virginia wins on a 55-yard field goal

That was one crazy finish in Lubbock. A 55 yard field goal to win the game? Priceless. You know what else is priceless? This tweet:

Flanagan's Big 12 Rankings for Week 8:

1. Baylor
2. TCU
3. Oklahoma
4. Kansas State
5. Oklahoma State
6. West Virginia
7. Texas
8. Texas Tech
9. Iowa State
10. Kansas

Analysis

TCU moves up to #2 despite losing because while Texas made a great comeback in the Red River Rivalry, an elite team puts away non-elite teams and the Sooners didn't do that. Everything else has stayed the same.

Big 12 Game(s) of the week

Kansas State at Oklahoma (11AM, CST on ESPN)

Oklahoma State at TCU (3PM, CST on FS1)

These two games are dramatically going to help determine the Big 12 race. If the underdogs pull off the upset, it's going to be chaos in the Big 12 standings. And it's worth noting that both of the lower ranked teams can pull off the upset. For Texas fans tailgating all day before the ISU game, you are in for a treat with these two games before the 7pm kickoff.

Other Big 12 games

Baylor at West Virginia (11AM, CST on FS1)
Iowa State at Texas (7PM, CST on LHN)
Kansas at Texas Tech (2:30 CST on FSN)

Chris, do you think ou can regroup and beat K St?

I really don't know. Kansas State does not beat themselves most of the time. OU is in a rut as a team. I can't tell you why but they just don't seem "elite" to me at this time. The game being at home helps but it will be a close game. A game worth getting up for that's for sure.

In previous years, the KSU game is exactly the type of game that Stoops wins. That's a big part of the reason that OU has dominated the conference.
