The guy from Tennessee is doing pretty good. The guy from Memphis is doing good.

I am sure Charlie gets another year. I just want to get some people to think

How about Justin Fuente? Memphis is beating Houston like a drum right now and they also beat Ol Miss who beat Bama. He also attended ou for awhile and the last sooner we hired did alright.

Yes right. What about Hugh Freeze? Recruits really good. Good offense. Turned freaking Ole Miss around. Don't know that much about him but got Ole Miss playing good

I'm seeing visions of Michigan's coaching hires after Lloyd Carr. Let's give Charlie time to develop his players & get rid of the last of Mack's players before we start blowing everything up every 2 years! Hard to stomach the results this season, but hopefully this is finally rock bottom & there is nowhere to go from here but up

I am torn about bringing Charlie back for a third year or not. And my deep concern is that if Charlie were going to be a great head coach I would not be torn after almost 2 full years.
I been feeling the same way since Iowa State

I said it I think a week ago...... It doesn't look like we are going to make a bowl, so it is about recruiting now. We HAVE TO RECRUIT RECRUIT RECRUIT. If Strong gets another year it has to be with several changes with his assistants. HAS TO BE

Houston came back and beat Memphis 35-34. So they beat the team that beat the team that beat bama. Guess they can't say they haven't beat anyone anymore.

And did it with their back-up QB playing the whole second half after their starter get hurt just before halftime.

Seems as though everyone can just plug in a QB and rock on............everyone except the Horns that is.
The most likely reason for this is due to the expertise, or in Texas's case lack of expertise, of your QB coach, offensive coordinator, and play caller.

You can't convince me that the backup QB for Houston is better than Heard. But you can convince me that he is better coached by his offensive coaches as well as his head coach.

but but but

Watson is/was considered one the best QB coaches or "miracle workers" when Strong was hired. /smirk

Echeese, I again pretty well agree with you.

I will disagree about the passing game pretty much, though. We don't have one we can rely on because we do not have a quarterback that can execute it reliably. Heard couldn't read a defense if it were printed in large block letters. I am beginning to doubt that he ever will.

Jonathan Gray has been a great person and a team leader, but he is the 4th best running back on the team. To give him reps over any of the other 3 is just a terrible idea. If it is the position coach who is doing that, he should be fired immediately. If it's Charlie........

From an organizational standpoint, the person calling the plays should decide who is in the game. Time and again we ran plays using guys who the plays were not designed for.

As for the defense, the defensive line got treated like poor stepchildren much of the game. Those guys are supposed to be better than that.

Charlie will be given a pass for this year because his bad mistake keeping Watson on will be forgiven by most. But he needs to get a good OC and let him make the important decisions.

I would like to see what Traylor can do the last two games. He may be the best coach on the staff.

Don't worry, Kansas couldn't do it either :P

On a serious note though, TCU almost lost to Kansas with their backup

Uh, not to be argumentative, but the OC QB coach in Houston was here. His name is Major Applewhite. We ran him or of town 2 year ago

You can make examples of each.

UH beat #21 Memphis with their 3rd string QB who was a WR when the season started and only expected to play during mop up duty this year.

Iowa State beat us with their back up.

Baylor lost with their true freshman back up Stidham.

Probably the MVP in big 12 is Boykin.  TCU is not the same without him.

Im pretty sure Applewhite is running Hermans system not the other way around.  Herman being a former OC for Ohio State.
