While exchanging a message with our supreme leader Commander Dude, he asked me where I thought UT would go bowling. I decided to answer his question with a post.

Here is the current conference standings.

Big 12 Conf All

Oklahoma State (5)....7-1... 10-1

Kansas State (16)..... 6-2... 9-2

Oklahoma (12).......... 6-2... 9-2

Baylor (21)............... 4-3... 7-3

Missouri................... 5-4... 7-5

Texas....................... 4-4... 7-4

Texas A&M...............4-5... 6-6

Iowa State................ 3-5... 6-5

Texas Tech............... 2-6... 5-6

Kansas.................... 0-9... 2-10

Texas is currently ranked Sixth and can fall no farther. They can with a win over Baylor move up to fifth. Mizzo has the tie-breaker over UT, so Texas can go no higher that fifth.

If Texas finishes fifth the go to the Holiday Bowl..

Payout: $3.4 million

Big Ten No. 6 vs. Big 12 No. 6

They will finish 5th or 6th because Mizzou is up big over Kansas at the half..

Texas owns a bit of real estate at the Holiday Bowl so they would fit in nicely there. On the flip side if they did fall to Meineke I would get to see them since I live in H-town. They are too good for the Car Care Bowl though. That's typically a place Tech goes!

First I would offer my condolences for living in Houston and second all the Horns need do is win and it's off to the Holiday Bowl..

I went to high school in Fort Worth and worked there after college for a few years. Loved the DFW area and wouldn't mind returning someday to live. That is if I cannot get back to Austin first.

My wife won't go or I would be in or around Austin as we speak. I especially like the area around Lake Travis near Lago Vista. Drinking my coffee in the morning in the edge of the hill country is about as good as it gets.

I used to live off Bissonet in SW Houston, you near that area?

Yes, I know where it is very well. We lived in West University when we had one kiddo but moved to the suburbs about 7 years ago when our 2nd kiddo was born. Now residing in Pearland, which is about 13 miles south of downtown Houston.

I'm with you on the hill country. It is amazing Texas can look like another country in those parts. My favorite is bringing a cooler of beer to the Salt Lick and enjoying a meal with family or friends. My folks had some property at Horseshoe Bay which is nice too.

I still own a home, from my brother, in La Porte. It is on Galveston Bay and I do love those trips to do some crabbing. Those were the days.

Man the Salt Lick is the best. In my Austin days, when family would come to town, I would always try and get them to the SL. I have owned two restaurants and managed so many I forgot to count, but that place just does the best job on a very consistent basis.

Their potato salad is best ever. They chop the onions and marinate in pickle juice overnight. They then combine the pickles, onions, seasonings, freshly cooked potatoes and home made mayonnaise as ordered. With that attention to detail on a side item, it just shows you how they dot all the I's and cross all the T's..Not one thing is taken for granted..Greatness personified.

Sorry to go on but I have lived a while and done a lot of living. The great George Thorogood said it best.."One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"

I am seeing references to us playing in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl? What in the hell is that? Do they play at Yankee Stadium or what?

Yep. The Pinstripe game is played in Stankee Stadium.

No truth to it ..The Big 12 has a contract to play in one of these games and the Longhorns will either finish 5th or 6th..So they are going to one of these bowls..Or I am full of shit, which is possible..
