UPDATE: Recruiting, Season for Thorndale's Colton Austin picking up speed

Things have been going very well for 2015 WR Colton Austin of Thorndale since we last visted him in week 1. Austin is on pace for career marks in yardage this season, coming off a 2012 where he had 32 catches for a school record 618 yards (19.31 yards per catch), and seven touchdowns. Austin also carried the ball 45 times for 299 yards and five more touchdowns in nine games.

Through six games this season, Austin has 20 catches for 358 yards and five touchdowns, along with 25 carries for 125 yards and one score. Austin is also an accomplished kicker and punter.

Since the 41-14 loss to Chilton, Thorndale has ripped off five straight wins, including four consecutive games of at least 49 points before last weeks thrilling 28-22 win over Weimar. This would likely be six wins, but Halletsville High School refused to play Thorndale due to alleged weather concerns after Thorndale had made the trip down.

The recruiting front has picked up speed, with unofficial visits to Big 12 schools TCU and Texas, multiple visits to Texas State, and interest from Incarnate Word in San Antonio.

We'll keep up with Austin as things progress, and look forward to what he does in the playoffs.

I follow this kid on Twitter - good kid, solid wideout. He has good stats thus far and if he keeps it up you would think he gets some serious consideration. I like the fact that he is an athlete and not just a wideout. Lot of demand for those types in D1 as we know....
