UIL Realignment: Texas Has a New 6A Classification

Just looked at Vernon's district and the surrounding district. Looks like Vernon was killed by enrollment. They really are on an island by themselves enrollment wise. They had no choice but to make Vernon travel.

Well, there was definitely some shuffling going on. Look at what happened to Lewisville (below). The UIL must hate Lewisville. They take them from a district with Coppell, Denton Ryan, Hebron and now put them in one even tougher.

District 6-6A

Allen

Lewisville

Lewisville Flower Mound

Lewisville Hebron

Lewisville Marcus

McKinney Boyd

Plano

Plano East

Plano West

McKinney Boyd has been on Lewisville's OOC schedule for the past two years and has throttled us each time. Allen is Allen. Marcus, the Plano schools, arrgghh.
As an alumnus, there is no such school called Lewisville Marcus. Please never do that again. We don't associate with those Farmers either :P

I know you're joking, but it's technically called "Lewisville Marcus" because FM is in LISD. (Just for those who don't know.)

Ha Ha, UIL did that, not me.

To elaborate a little on what the above poster said, Lewisville ISD is one of the larger ISD's in the state. Parts of Frisco, Plano, Grapevine, Carrolton, The Colony and Lewisville are part of the Lewisville ISD. High schools in LISD are prefaced with "Lewisville" by some publications like the UIL to indicate the district they're in, not necessarily the town they're in.

Flower Mound High, Flower Mound Marcus, Lewisville High, The Colony High, Lewisville Hebron High are all in the Lewisville ISD.

Wow. I did not know that. Have never heard that before. Do not like.

I understand the thought in doing this in major cities/inter cities, but this doesn't make sense to me.

""Lewisville Flower Mound High"??

I'm not sure how I feel about Stephenville's new District.

Class 4A Division 1

Region 1 District 3

Abilene Wylie (102 Miles)

Big Spring (204 Miles)

Brownwood (61 Miles)

Snyder (176 Miles)

Stephenville

That is a lot of road trips when you factor in their out of division games as well. Not that I make it to many of their games as is, being in DFW. I would have preferred something like this:

Brownwood

Decatur

Mineral Wells

Springtown

Stephenville

The longest drive would be between Decatur and Brownwood. You offset that by having Decatur play Brownwood in Brownwood and Stephenville in Decatur one year. While Brownwood would play Decatur in Brownwood and Springtown in Springtown. Then you would flip those the next year.

Now I'm sure none of you care for what I just broke down. (LOL) But I am happy to see Stephenville and Brownwood playing in the same District again. Call me bias but I think that is one of the best High School Football rivalries in the State.
