Two questions to ask concerning hire

1. Which coach turns the recruiting tide quickest, flips a 14 kid or two...and gets 15 class going?2. Which coach do you want to do battle against the SEC as the face of the Tx. program?

Curious to see what others think
1. Briles knows Texas HS Football, but Saban is Saban and is probably more well known throughout the country than most NFL coaches.

2. Saban

Briles wouldn't flip a lot of guys the way that you're thinking about. He'd bring some guys with him from Baylor, but he wouldn't steal top recruits from schools like A&M and LSU.

Saban would without a doubt bring some big names with him. He wouldn't be able to bring anyone that we hadn't previously recruited that is committed to Alabama, but he'd definitely make some guys from around the state and southeast take notice. He'd be the best hire if you want to steal some top talent from around the country. Fisher would be another guy who could come in and really move the needle.

Harbaugh and Gruden could come in because of name recognition, but a lot of that would depend on the staff they hired. If they went with the Jim Mora style of hiring I think we'd be ok because they'd bring in some guys who have significant ties to college.

Not to be rude in questioning your source, but can you elaborate on how this person is in the know? Not doubting!!!! Believe me when I say I hang on your every post. Could you just say, YES JOHN!! THIS PERSON SHOULD BE TRUSTED!!!!!

Well, I like to think my sources can be trusted, otherwise I wouldn't bother sharing it. One guy has a long accurate track record. Another is someone whom I became acquainted with during the middle of the season. I'm comfortable with them.

The nugget I got that has me thinking we've got Saban came from one of my two sources. But, another guy who is easily the best connected guy I know got the same info I did. We dont' have the same sources.

I would pay attention to not only what McPhaul says, but skoldon and a few others, too. Skoldon has got a good source.

Good analysis!

Announcers just said that Tevin Reese was a 2 star wing T tight end at his school. Art finds guys, and yes I know he won't HAVE to find guys like this IF he is at Texas, but it doesn't hurt that he understands the value of finding guys that fit, rather than looking at stars, not saying that Nick does not, just saying Art is a hell of a recruiter too. It has to be more difficult to recruit to Baylor than it is to BAMA.
Briles recruits speed

As I've said in another post, I think that Harbaugh would bolt to Michigan at the first opportunity that their HC position became available. Therefore, give me some "SABAN"!!!!!!

Kingsbury. Knows how to coach QB's. Knows how to recruit Texas HSs. Young enuf' to build a long-term (winning) program.

saban has had top 3 or better recruiting classes every year with bama.

Baylor not even top 20.

Give me saban ill give u talent to win.

Who is skoldon?

Please don't take offense! Even if Saban doesn't come here I still trust you aren't just throwing things against the wall. I am all twisted up on this. I have posted to friends elsewhere that my unnamed sources, (You and McPhaul) are giving me a lot of great inside scoop. THey ask for your names, but I refuse. (Some are trolls) I promised I would if it really happened. But i refused to give you and McPhauls name because no matter what, I am not looking for them to trash you guys or this site as just blowhards. You have never said 100% and neither have I. I do however believe he is coming. He could still say no and that is not your fault for saying what you were hearing. Anyway, I didn't want you thinking I was questioning you. I can take the abuse I will receive if Saban bails on the deal. But, i will be an insider to them if what we believe really happens. This is fun!!!

Maybe so. But if we're actually paying him $8.5 million there's no way that Michigan is going to be able to match that. And ties or not, Harbaugh isn't going to take a multi million dollar pay cut to go there. Hoke is making $3.25 million right now. You think Michigan is going to double that and still be $2 million below what we might be paying Harbaugh?

I say invite your friends here and let them read everything for themselves. They could have something to add to our conversations and if they get out of line and trash anyone the Mods will take care of 'em.

1 - Kingsbury? Stop. He could turn out to be a great coach one day, but 8-5 with a massive losing streak as your entire HCing resume probably doesnt get you an interview at any top 60 school.

2 - Harbaugh could have had Michigan this year if he wanted it. All he had to do was have his folks inform UM he was ready and Brady Hoke would have been tossed out like yesterdays newspaper. Michigan is not the job it was 15 years ago with all the new conference alignments and the exodus of people from the rust belt and the north to the south and west. Its always going to be a top 20 job, but its not a top 5 gig.

In due time. THey are Aggies, Red Raiders, Bama and Bears. Some horns who onl ybeleive what Chip or Ketch say. My Aggie buddies are the ones I want to laugh at.

I'd rather hire Sumlin than Kingsbury. And I want nothing to do with Sumlin. I'd rather bring in Art Briles' OC Philip Montgomery than Sumlin. That will tell you what I think of KK.

Lol. I wouldn't laugh just yet...things are looking bright, but we still have a ways to go.

Disagree... No way they pay 6+ million a year (not happening) especially with economic issues up there.
