Got HBO just because of the eight-part series. It's probably Matthew's best performance to date, IMO. I, too, love that intro song. I keep expecting Les Miles to pop up in an episode.

Yeah. Me agree. I had to contain my amusement with the hot box, because my wife watches the show with me. She pretty much knew what I was thinking anyhow.

I auditioned for this over in Shreveport. I only had a couple of ages of the script. It was for the Sheriff. I had no idea what it was at the time and thy didn't reveal who was attached to the project. Damn, I wish I had at least gotten a call-back.

This show is an acting clinic. It is also extremely well written. It gains momentum every episode. You Just know its going to explode in something horrific at the end of he season.

You mean I could have been watching this and screaming "I KNOW THAT GUY!!!?" They missed out on the Pock.

Updates on Season II

1) So all signs are pointing towards a renewal for a second season of True Detective — it’s just a waiting game for HBO to finally confirm it.

2) Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey won't be back for S2(or could they?) but it seems there is a huge list of A name actors wanting in on Season II. One rumor I read is George Clooney is interested, and look for a female co-lead as well.

3) HBO is doing a waiting game to see where the story goes.

4) This from series creator Nic Pissallito

There could be a season that’s much more of a widespread conspiracy thriller, a season that’s a small‑town murder mystery, a season where nobody is murdered and it’s a master criminal versus a rogue detective or something. Even the title, True Detective, is meant to be, of course, purposefully somewhat generic – the word “true” can also mean honorable and authentic and things like that. So as long as there is some crime in there, I think the series format can approach it.

Great Episode 7. Are we looking at next week as the finale? The ending with the scarred mouthed guy on the lawnmower was cryptic.
