Traylor and TSU

Will Charlie ever be able to keep momentum headed in a positive direction?...seems like every time things start looking up, such as recent recruiting news, there is an inevitable step backwards, whether real or perceived...he just can't catch a break

Somebody mentioned this the other day, I said I doubted it. I'll eat my words.

Surprising. Would really suck to lose him. But losing him to Texas State wouldn't be as bad as losing him to somebody we compete with in recruiting. And if Charlie doesn't work out, maybe you take a look at what Traylor has done with TXST.

I wouldn't blame the guy for going if he was offered that job, but man that would be a kick in the nuts for Texas with a huge month in recruiting ahead.

On the 1300 the zone they just stated, on the air, that it's confirmed both parties have legitimate interest.

It always good for an assistant coach to interview for jobs even if their not interested in moving. I would be surprised if Traylor is anywhere else but UT next year.

Houston Nutt from Ol Miss and Arkansas to be at or even get turned down by Texas St. My how the mighty have fallen.

Traylor isnt going anywhere. He does need to experience the interview process. If I am him I stay and have a big year and throw my hat in the ring with UH when Hermann leaves. They love offensive coaches and pay more the TXST. If he wants to see an upwardly career track derailed by taking a crappy job see:Todd Dodge

Both Jim Wacker and Dennis Franchione built their resumes at Texas State.

It may not have worked out for Dodge, but there are plenty of examples of coaches using FCS and lower level jobs as stepping stones.

Last word I heard was earlier this morning (January 1, 2016).  Apparently Texas State has gotten real interested in Major Applewhite after the UH bowl win against Florida State.  Other candidates, including Traylor, are still being looked at, but apparently the committee is intrigued by Applewhite.

I just can't see Applewhite taking a FCS job when he's in line to take over for Herman at UH next year.

FBS coordinators make more $, too, don't they?
