Top Three In Order

McPhaul: If it is Saban or one of the other coaches you mentioned,I feel their assistant coaches will play an important part of their success. My question is at which point does a coach start putting out feelers to other coaches to get their interest in joining him if he decides to make the decision to accept the HC position.I am asking this question because it looks like the offer and acceptance will come sometime in January for a HC.

Jimmy Sexton is the man. He's the Scott Boras of the college coaching world. Unreal how things have set up for him this offseason.

I know this is the wrong thread but since don't know how to start one I wanted opinions on Barnes talking crap about Croaker yesterday after the game

And you know he wants one of his guys at Texas

Without a doubt.

You have to think he wants Saban here. Saban coming here gets him the biggest single contract payday. Then, it opens up another job in Alabama that he could possibly get Fisher to take. Then that opens up Florida State for someone like Smart, who I believe is another Sexton client. At the end of the day, Sexton pretty much controls all the dominoes in this process and I'll be SHOCKED if he doesn't get one of his guys the job.

What I believe is the current list:

1.Saban

2.Harbaugh

3.Harbaugh

4.Fisher

5.Tomlin

6.Gruden

7. Malzahn

8-10 Who Cares won't get this far.

My personal list based purely on what I know of the Coaches and some personal contact/personal observations of the men:

1. Gruden

2. John Harbaugh

3. Jim Harbaugh

4. Fisher

5. Saban

6. Malzahn

7 and on: I don't care.

Your love for Gruden is very interesting to me. Next time we have a beer you will need to tell my why..

I've posted it here before. When I was with the NFL Network I saw first hand how much Gruden is respected for his knowledge of the game. He commanded the room and engaged everybody. he challenged others on their knowledge as well. I saw Mike Mayock just shake his head at Gruden and his dissection of X's and O's. He was impressed. Mike is considered one of THE most knowledgeable football announcers.

I agree that Gruden has a great football mind I just don't think he is a good head coach. He is better suited to be a coordinator.

Maybe so. I dont think he"s a real candidate anyway.

Saban
Fisher

Malzahn

Dark horses:

Jim Harbaugh

John Harbaugh

Art Briles

Jim Mora Jr

Jimmy Sexton is about to get paid by multiple schools. One thing we have not talked about is if Texas gets down to the third choice which appears to be Malzahn is who would replace Malzahn at Auburn?
very good order. Yes all 3 I like and any of the first 3 would do good at Texas. Replace Malzahn with Anderson at Auburn.

Franklin

How can Sexton be so sure that Alabama would hire Fisher and FSU would hire Smart if Saban left Bama?

Pockey why do you have Saban so far down on your personal list?

does anyone really think even after all that has transpired that Saban will still come here? Yeah, I know he hasn't always been true on his word in the past (like a lot of coaches) regarding job destination.

But some of the things he said upon deciding to re-sign with 'Bama were pretty stout comments that would seem deeply difficult to go back on.

Even that aside, assuming he made that call based on it appearing that Mack was staying, it's kind of difficult to understand why that one day would have made such a difference. I guess he just finally reached a point of thinking Mack would never leave after all.

But for that matter, is it still possible in some way that Mack decides to fight to come back after the bowl? Then what (assuming Saban is actually still that interested)?

It is 50/50 on Saban
30% Fisher

20% Malzahn
McPhaul, why are you even printing this crap? Saban IS NOT coming. Quit giving false hope! You have been incorrect all the way through. I may be A ROOKIE on this board, but this talk is ridiculous. Texas IS NOT getting Saban, or either Harbaugh or ANY NFL coach. Let's get real...... This new coach may not be a sexy pick. It's time to start talking about realistic options............

It's looking like he is the leading candidate right now. You can believe it or not but the signs are pointing to him coming to Texas.
