**Tom Herman Signing Day Press Conference Thread**

Tom Herman will meet with the media at 2 PM to discuss the 2018 recruiting class. The press conference will be televised live on LHN. Follow along here for updates.

The final class count is 27, which is right around the number Tom Herman said he wanted back in December.

Herman-"Adding the eight guys we added today really solidifies the class, especially on the defensive front"

Herman takes a minute to thank everyone involved in this recruiting process, including professors who take time to visit with recruits during official visits.

Herman-"Wow our players do a good job. They were unbelievably honest and positive."

"In order to win championships, you have to surround yourself with really good players, and we have that with this class"

"11 out of the top 15 players in the state of Texas signed with Texas. That needs to be the new normal"

On the defensive recruits-"There is going to be a lot of competition on the defensive side"

Comments that they signed the 3 best safeties in the State and who they believe are the best 2 corners.

Herman says Mike Williams is the sleeper in this class. Said he loved his film.

"Hats off to Oscar Giles for staying the course. It was a bit of a roller coaster ride in state at defensive line, but he finished really strong"

Herman sings the praises of Derek Chang. Said that Chang told him in 2017 "We don't need to sign guys just to sign guys. The 2018 class is loaded with players graduating early."

Herman mentions that with new D-Lineman to choose from in-state, nearly every quality DL was getting recruited by everyone.

On Spring official visits-"It is uncharted territory."

"We will probably have 3 or 4 days in the spring for guys who want to take official visits"

"The bulk of our classes from now until we leave are going to be from the state of Texas."

"I know we signed the best two defensive tackles in the state of Texas in Coburn and Ojomo"

"I don't think it's fair to rely on freshman offensive lineman"
