I agree, I don't think he will have to wait more than 2 years. Why not if his family is happy in H-town?
In a year or two, he can potentially get UT, aggy, tOSU.....Bama?

What I do know is that we've talked to Herman through channels. He has been receptive, very receptive. Still, anything can happen. Game with Tech will be key, not just if we lose, but how we lose if we lose. Previous sentence is me speculating.
Ok my head is spinning as yesterday I was convinced that Strong was not going anywhere after Perrin made his statement that Texas was committed to Coach Strong. Now you have me second guessing all that ....I am just going to wait until after the Tech game and see how we perform.
Mark I'm not disagreeing with you. It's just that you said Missouri is the only spot open.
So you're saying Texas is getting ready to fire Strong....
He's not walking away.![]()
I'm amused with your "Texas" has spoke with Herman. Texas as in donors or Texas as in Perrin and Fenves.
Ha, Smart makes more sense. Hopefully, Herman holds out for Texas for those that believe in him. I know Tom personally and have since the '90's and I'm not sure he's the guy.Uh, no.
I don't know.
If you thought that was funny, you should have checked out the guy who said Herman to SC was already done. That guy is probably taking the day off today. lol

Perfect world for me would be to stay the course, granted its ugly and may not get better in the next two years.... I'd like to see TH coach up UH with little to zero fall off over the next year or two and then I'm open to that hire. As mentioned, with any hire, I fear a fall off on defense with TH and I'm a former defensive player. Then again, offensive minds have a perfect understanding of defense and defensive minds a perfect understanding of offense...Why not? He's got an impressive resume, produces results. Just interested in your perspective here, not doubting you.
Here's where I get lost. If we go after Herman because he's an offensive whiz, how is that different than having a HC who is a DC whiz? Are we just trading strengths there?
I would just assume keep Strong and see how this plays out with him next year.
Our defense is a far cry as to what it was in 2014. A lack of offense, schedule, and freshmen replacing Hicks and Brown hasnt helped. Then again, offensive minds have a perfect understanding of defense and defensive minds a perfect understanding of offense...

I hope you were expecting that fall off.Our defense is a far cry as to what it was in 2014. A lack of offense, schedule, and freshmen replacing Hicks and Brown hasnt helped.
Texas is 94th in the NCAA in total defense.
No doubt. I have repeatedly said I miss Hicks and Brown. Those 2 were the biggest losses. Freshmen are going to make mistakes and I can live with that, there is only way they are going to get experience.I hope you were expecting that fall off.
Key positions and leadership roles were drafted, Brown, Hicks, Diggs and Thompson, then you add Ced Reed and Steve Edmond and it makes since. No body replaced BROWN or HICKS or how important they were to a top 25 defense last year and the youth is flat inexperienced.

And a tougher schedule . . .
