Tom Herman is getting Paid

Since SC and aggy play every year it will be interesting to see how he matches up against bug eyes.

Herman headed to SC East. Tentative agreement in place.

Should know soon.

The only spot open is Mizzou. Not sure why Herman would want to go there and Mizzou isn't exactly cash-rich.

$3 mil is nothing for Texas, if Texas wants him, and a majority of the BMDs want Herman right now, like yesterday, they'll have him.

But yes, Texas has talked to Herman, that much I have been told directly and it was elaborated on. That was after the ISU game. You're free to think what you want with regard to legs, but the timing (cause vs effect) is more than coincidental.

Mark

Isn't South Carolina open? I think that's what he is referring to.

Facing a complete rebuilding job from the cellar of the SEC? I don't think so.

The USC on the OTHER coast is the more likely suitor for Herman, of those that Herman would consider leaving Houston for. I hear they are interested.

According to Spurs' source (a poster on OB), Tom Herman hasn't even visited the SC campus/town, has never been there, hasn't discussed anything with his wife, while at the same time trying to prep his team for a huge game with Navy.

Does that sound like something the top coaching candidate in the land would do?

Mark I'm not disagreeing with you. It's just that you said Missouri is the only spot open.

So you're saying Texas is getting ready to fire Strong....

He's not walking away. ;)

I'm amused with your "Texas" has spoke with Herman. Texas as in donors or Texas as in Perrin and Fenves.

My source on Herman was out of SC, not Cali. Oh, and it's been shot down like all rumors like this.

There's also a rumor that VaTech has their man. His sqaud played Herman'.

No one in an official capacity at Texas has spoken with Herman. That is complete BS. Now has some BMD on his own? probably..Means nothing

I am not amused with any of this discussion. Whoever will coach Texas Football is an important thing to me, serious business.

But TexExSpur asked a valid question: was it BMDs or Perrin and Fenves who spoke with Herman?

Do you know? Can you tell?

You're right. But that's not how this is done anyway. If I had told it did, then you'd have a point with the BS comment.

Means nothing? lol Okay.

Well, the info is not mean to entertain. I agree, it is serious. We're having this discussion because people with deep pockets feel it's serious.

I'm surprised that the question would even be asked. Hell no Texas would not approach an employed coach while having a coach employed and having no permission to speak to the employed coach. That's just naive as it gets.

How did we get going with Saban? Tom Hicks? Who is he anyway? And spare me the "Saban stuff was BS", this much was in the Dallas Morning News.

No, Hicks did not speak with Herman.

And to clarify, we have had SEVERAL discussions with him. Not just one.

Does this mean Herman will be Texas' next coach? I do not know. What I do know is that we've talked to Herman through channels. He has been receptive, very receptive. Still, anything can happen. Game with Tech will be key, not just if we lose, but how we lose if we lose. Previous sentence is me speculating.

Ok my  head is spinning as yesterday I was convinced that Strong was not going anywhere after Perrin made his statement that Texas was committed to Coach Strong.  Now you have me second guessing all that ....I am just going to wait until after the Tech game and see how we perform.

Since we're all speculating here -

I don't believe for a second that Perrin would have made the statements he made (i.e. 'Strong will be here next season, take it to the bank') if there was still any doubt that Strong was returning in 2016 - regardless of the Tech and Baylor outcomes.

I don't believe for a second that Strong would have made the statements he made is he was entertaining an 'accomodation' to leave Texas at the end of the season.

Both sides might have been considering it as recently as a few weeks ago - but I expect the very strong support from Perrin/Fenves, and reassurances from Strong of his desire to get this turned around ahave ended any discussions of Strong walking away.

I have no doubt that some overzealous people with money reached out to Herman (just as they had Saban, Gruden, and every other ridiculous candidate they could think of in years past).  And I'm sure he was eager to listen.

As for South Carolina - I think it would be a pretty good job for Herman.  P5 school in the SEC East - so he'd be in a much easier division and have a relatively easy path to the Conference championship game every year.  As it sets up - the winner of the SEC is basically guaranteed a playoff spot every season.  Additionally USCe is the 'rivalry' for aggy, so he'd get to play them every year and would have an opportunity to maintain his precense in Texas recruiting.  Sure its not as prestigious as USC or Texas - but he's also a guy who has 1 year of HC experience and thats come at Houston.  So does he want to stay at Houston for a couple of years and hope one of the prestigious jobs opens up and he's still a candidate, or does he jump to a decent P5 job and wait for the next step up?

^^ Me too.

It seems like no one here on this board, in the press, in the BMD suites, on the 40 acres, or at any other university truly knows how this is going to play out. Everyone wants to have their say. There are wayy too many people that think they are a chief, instead of an Indian. At this point i just want to get past this season, hopefully get a win against baylor and be done with this crap.
