Time to tap the brakes

It's funny how so many of our fans bitched about Mack's coach speak but lap up the same coach speak like gospel from other coaches. .

Black out the names and EVERY coach in the country (pretty much) is saying something very similar. . . .

Typical end of week 1 commentary .. . .

And you know what?

Nothing we didn't know end of last year. . .we have holes, they aren't going to be filled over night. . .

We have questions. . . #1 will Ash hold up. . .that will be a play by play concern when the O is on the field. . .

As you know, it's Coach Strong's honeymoon period eCheese

He won't sound as smart or be as beloved if our Horns go 6-6 in 2014.  Regardless, I think he should get 3 years - minimum - to put his stamp on the program.  He's got a 5-year contract.  I just wanna see improvement each year.

Short of us only going to minor bowls or missing bowls all together. . . .anything less than allowing CFS all 5 years would be foolish. . . . IMHO of course.. . fortunately I think AD Patterson is a hell of a lot smarter than some of our fans.

I swear these coaches speak from a script .. .

End of Week 1. . .down play the team in public . . .tempers expectations and fires up the fans. .

End of Week 2 . ..we're installing the offense/defense and trying to avoid injuries

End of Week 3. . . .new concepts are being grasped as quickly but some of the young guys pushing for early PT

End of week 4. . . .(insert name of the week 1 tomato can here). . . is a great deal tougher than our fans think. . . .

When the media is only asking about stickers on the helmets, it plays directly into the coaches' hands.

Its only one week into preseason practices and I'm already tired of hearing that we shouldn't be expecting the coaching staff to deliver much of a team.

Since my expectations as a fan have as much impact as a fire extinguisher has on the Sun, I'll take it all with a grain of salt.

Yes, Randolph, please provide quotes from the coaching staff to back up your assertion that they think they won't be delivering much of a team.
