1. Saw Chevoski Collins ride pine most of the day today. He did not look like his heart was into things, based on his body language on the sidelines. He got some mop up duty in the last minute of the game, up 50-30. They had him playing FS.

2. Can't remember his name, but the TE prospect we went after last year from Mesquite landed at Navarro. I now understand why we backed off. Good thing we did, IMO. Doesn't like practice. Is not easy to like. Not afraid to tell a coach what's up, either. Was very average on the field, would not have noticed him at all had I not been intentionally checking him out because I remembered UT recruiting him last year.

3. Navarro has an outstanding team, possibly the best in the land at their level. They beat the #2 ranked team in the nation today 50-30 despite giving up 5 fumbles, 3 were inside their own 10 yd line.

4. I don't know who scheduled a 1 p.m. start for a Aug. 23 game, but they should be shot on sight.

Very interesting post, Mark.  Keep this kind of stuff going.

That TE you are talking about is Vincent Hobbs. I agree it was good UT didn't go after him. Was a solid player but I dont think he was a Big 12 type kid. Navarro is loaded, and I hear TJC is loaded also.

A 1:00 start for a football game in East Texas is pretty stupid. Glad the Texas boys won though.

It was just brutal. About half the seats on the home side are metal, so that magnified it. There was about three to four rows of shaded bleachers directly under the press box facility. It was full, despite being about 60 rows up.

Next Saturday's starting time? 1 friggin pm again

I spoke to the head coach after the game (navarro). He said today's game and the game with Tyler and Trinity Valley were going to be toughest of the season.

Safe to say, the winner will be one of three schools along Highway 31.
