This Is What I'm Hearing

McPhaul,

Thanks for the info! I am always amazed as when any info gets posted by someone there is the quick rebuttal by them to denigrate the poster or his info! Jeez, these people need to get a life! They are taking this way too serious. How about people start looking for other avenues that don't cause them to be so spiteful, full of hate and vinegar.

I just ignore most of them but can see why others react, the act gets old. There are more important things in this world to worry about! We cannot really control what is happening behind close doors at our beloved university so just let it play out!

Thanks sdhornsesq. That is a great response.

I'm not a lawyer, though I have played one on TV ( seriously) and I have a question. Does the fact that Hall and Hicks have an official connection to UT insulate them? It never made sense to me that JJ would go after the school rather he might look at anyone that reached out to another Coach when the contract of his client was in force. Seems to me that if I as an individual tried to get someone under contract fired and replaced with the guy of my choice, I'd have a problem. The fact that the two of them are board members they can reach out and gauge interest to protect their fiduciary responsibilities to the board.

This is way above my pay grade and I'm not so quick to blame anyone at this point. It all reeks of a back room negotiation at this point. So, yes, it's done all the time.

In the last two days I have heard from two different camps that Mack is definitely considering filing a lawsuit against the University/Parties for interference of contract.
All parties involved in the on going negotiations including Sexton could be name in that lawsuit.

One attorney told me the suit would not hold up but, Brown could make it very ugly.

One concern I have heard is this could once again make the HC job a less desirable position for any heavyweight candidate to step into and especially Sextons clients.

As I mention in our Crossfire several weeks ago that Brown was doing his best to make his exit a money grab, it also appears that he is considering smearing everyone that had anything to do with any type of negotiations.

I'm not sure where this is going to go but, wanted to make you all aware.
MB has heard the Saban rumors and will do anything to he can to tant the picture at Texas. The point being with all the trash going on in Austin it might be hard to find the top notch coach we wanted. That would make MB happy. What is going in in MB head he needs to man up and get the hell out of Austin. I am not a lawyer but it appears that this is really getting ugly by the day. You have heard of rage in the work place this could be headed in that direction. My friends y'all have a great week.

I don't think it's bogus. I think there is a better than 50/50 shot that Mack is threatening a suit. No doubt he us butt hurt and his ego is screaming at him to do something.
That dies not mean I think he sues. I think the chances are close to 0% if not actually 0%. He has too much to lose and does not gain enough by suing, even if he wins.
He really has no just cause. It's a contract that he unsuccessfully fulfilled.

I am not a lawyer and don't pretend to be one. I too think this is a scare tactic to embarrass powers and others who are associated in identifying the new head coach.

Mack is very delusional in thinking this way and can only damage his reputation.

McPhaul,

Happy Holidays to you and your family. Turn a deaf ear to the attackers. It has just become commonplace in that land. A sick and sad way of existence.

Good Lord, is he (apparently not) happy with having drawn down $50M+ over the years, excluding the golden parachute that he was given to 'retire'. If Jamail has an hand in this, and I'm sure he must, then shame on him as well.

This is disgusting. I hope Mack comes to whatever senses he has left.

First of all I don't lie. I have no need for hedging either. I'm going to remind you that on this site we don't act like cowards. We don't hide behind a keyboard and type something about someone that we would not say face to face. You have a history of doing just that. You need to back to where that is acceptable.
McPhaul, I agree. We are a free nation and there is both room for and a need for divergent views and opinions. But there is no need for personal attacks. If a person vehemently disagrees with a poster, perhaps they should not open threads posted by that person. Just my opinion for what it is worth.

In the spirit of how I would have handled the retirement (termination for cause), may I respectfully suggest acourse of action for HornSports.

Quick and permanent bans for posters who refuse to show respect. Not just posting privileges, but total access.

I have been in this world a long time and one thing of which I am absolutely certain; most people confuse kindness and patience for weakness.

I may disagree with anyone, but I always do so with courtesy.

Armadillo Slim excepted.

Mack has zero case whatsoever. He already publicly announced he was retiring and would be laughed out of Austin if he tried to turn around and claim this now after that press conf. Texas could have just bought him out for any reason. They don't have to justify it.

Quality over quantity. In my sales experience, usually most of the biggest pain-in-the butt clients are those "2-inchers" that you could've easily done without.

Build and serve a high quality clientele. Work to add others like them. Long term- patience will pay off.

Just my 2 cents.

I would not think they would have to justify it either. If you do your job well then usually your job is fairly safe. If you are a Coach and You all but promise a run for the MNC and you then get the piss beat out of your team four going on five times then you would likely need to be watching over your shoulder for a pink slip. In most cases it would not warrant several $mil either.

From everything I have heard, the Hicks brothers reached out and gauged interest as individuals not in an official capacity. However, any lawyer would argue that it was implied that they were representing the university. It makes things messier but the regents like Powers do not have authority to terminate the HC. That is solely in the hands of the AD.

There aren't any clear answers but I don't think the facts give rise to liability, damages, or sympathy in Mack's favor if he brings suit.

Is that a direct quote from anyone "in the know"?
No, this wasnt going to affect the Saban hire unless it happened very soon and if it had a prayer of winning, which i don't think it does.

Nothing has changed what happened two days ago.

If I had a Delorean with a flux capacitor I could jump ahead to Jan 6th and...ah never mind! Lol

Thanks PDX....of course I recognize your handle. How's your Dad doing? Thanks for taking the time to respond. All I have to say is you might be underestimating the lengths Mack is willing to go to at this point.
Happy Holidays to you and your family
Thanks baghorn. Same to you.

Dad is well.

I did put the disclaimer that anything is possible so I am not discounting it fully.

Hope it is not the case.
