The way too early Cal trip thread

Lets get a Cal trip thread going. Places to stay, eat, things to do etc. Who all is going?

Cal is a nice campus but it is in Oakland but Napa Valley isn't that far away. Hummmmm

OAKLAND? Who the hell would want to go to school in Oakland?

Berkley is close to Oakland, but it is not Oakland. Besides, Oakland is nowhere near as bad as some folks think it is. I spent two weeks in Oakland once and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Oakland is the pits. Yea Cal's in Berkeley but Oakland is just to the south and to the north you have Richmond. I lived in the Bay Area and nobody I knew then or know now who is still out there cared for Oakland. I do admit I enjoyed watching the A's play but that was it.

Oakland actually has more interesting art deco architecture than San Francisco. I took long walks daily there and never felt unsafe.

Oakland does have some nice architecture, I'll give it that but overall it's not a nice area. If you walked Oakland at night, all I can say is I want you on my side in a fight!

I'll be in San Diego. Maybe if I get the weekend off, I'll drive up and join y'all!
