THE SMELL TEST: Something Is Indeed Very Wrong Here...

I've tried to point this out several times but no really takes serious... What would you do if your wife isn't happy and can see the absurdity of the staye you are residing in? You make a lot of valid points but im sure she has a lot of input. I always argued that she would love Austin and allow both of them a bit of a better living situation. If thats the case how can you fault him for wanting his family to live a close to normal life.
...please let us not confuse the issue my friend. i for one, would never have an issue with anyone seeking to enhance their livelihoods. my problem is with nick saban's penchant for possibly lying to so many recruits and their families.... and just up and departing them with no conscience.

It's easy to leave if the people you trusted with your money lost millions for you. I won't lose respect for a man who gives the finger to people that screwed him and is doing what he can while he can to salvage his financial portfolio.
...all of those recruits and their families, have nothing to do with his investment failures...

...i am not at all pessimistic...
in fact, for everyone that truly knows me... they will tell you that "monarch" has got to be one of the most "optimistic", and yet "faithful" persons that there is.

and yet, after viewing tonight's "under armour classic".... just why do i suddenly feel as though i shall need to go and take another shower. I THINK THAT "TEXAS" HAS KISSED THE ASS OF NICK SABAN, FAR TOO LONG! there, i have said it. and yet i still do not feel any better.

just like so very many of you throughout "longhorn nation"... i truly love the university of texas. but i only want just what is good, fair, and right as per our great university. we harbor far too many bmd's, that yield far too much power, throughout very strategic areas of importance. i think that we all know that this very preeminence, is starting to yield unwarranted results..... it is hurting our recruiting.... as well as making it far more difficult to land a good, honest, and fair coach.

nick saban, and his university of alabama.... has now garnered a "monopoly" upon recruitment (he now has it all). so can anyone please honestly tell me.... just how on earth does nick saban, plan to just up and leave all of this behind.... just as per the sake of a few bad investments.... not only tell me (but please make it comprehensive) please.

as i have stated many time prior.... should nick saban journey to austin, tx. i shall salute him and his family. i shall welcome him with as much "texas" hospitality as possible.... but i shall not respect this man. how could i? my parents raised me with far too much integrity to openly "respect" someone that could just jump up and leave so very much behind.... for no real apparent reason.

something is indeed very wrong here "longhorn nation".... am i the only one that thinks so?

You are truly in need of a an edit.

Why wouldn't Saban come to Texas? Do you have a career? Here's how it goes:

1. I offer you twice the money to do your job

2. I now give you an open check book to get assistants

3. I relocate you from a not so pretty city, to ATX.

4. I offer you the most prosperous recruiting state in the USA

5. You can live the life as a football god for a few years.

6. Your wife says so.

Off the top of the noggin

I have feel pretty much the same way but have never been able to put it in writing as well as you did. We will all find out soon

This logic doesn't pass the smell test.
There are some guys who will not be satisfied with less than it all. Saban can have everything and more money here. Your inability to respect a coach just because he would "leave so much behind" is bizarre. Blaming a guy just because he can't be satisfied is hyper-judgemental.

...i would hate to think that the university of texas should have to bare the burden of any "guys that just cannot be satisfied with less than it all".... just what on earth did "texas" do to deserve this form of hyper greed as per any prospective head coach?

also, please let us not try and hyper confuse my thoughts process within my prior text. (you have got to be kidding) i do not harbor a problem with what he is supposedly is leaving behind.... my problem is with him being "blessed" with such a bountiful recruitment.... and all the while diabolically preparing to leave them and their families behind. (now once again, i do not know about you sir... but i could never respect anyone like this)

Methinks you have ulterior considerations other than your stated reason for withholding respect. What does your genetic integrity meter tell you about a HC who admittedly mailed it in while continuing to cash $5M/yr pay checks?
..."genetic integrity meter"... give it a rest.

Guess what Guys, I figured it out reading the thread.............My wife just heated up some crow pie and just got 1 fork with 1 plate. Man what a night.

But you oviously have the power to read and judge a mans actions without ever knowing him personally. I know he's no angel but neither has any coach that's ever left for a better situation. After you must also understand that its a business and they too have an expiration date, see Mack Brown. I don't blame someone who is constantly improving the situation. You'll celebrate the lottery but not the man that has perfected his craft and has the leverage to use it.

Agreed

Valid response. Mack is going out like a punk spurned on prom night. Your lack of logic is laughable.
...my pal, i am "ecstatic" that mack brown is gone. what are you talking about...

Ha! How dare a coach leave a team he recruited for greener pastures. That's beyond naive.

...our debate was not about "naiveté"... it was actually about "respect"...

Saban cannot defend the spread (check ongoing Sugar Bowl game for confirmation). Do not want. :P
