...i am not at all pessimistic...

in fact, for everyone that truly knows me... they will tell you that "monarch" has got to be one of the most "optimistic", and yet "faithful" persons that there is.

and yet, after viewing tonight's "under armour classic".... just why do i suddenly feel as though i shall need to go and take another shower. I THINK THAT "TEXAS" HAS KISSED THE ASS OF NICK SABAN, FAR TOO LONG! there, i have said it. and yet i still do not feel any better.

just like so very many of you throughout "longhorn nation"... i truly love the university of texas. but i only want just what is good, fair, and right as per our great university. we harbor far too many bmd's, that yield far too much power, throughout very strategic areas of importance. i think that we all know that this very preeminence, is starting to yield unwarranted results..... it is hurting our recruiting.... as well as making it far more difficult to land a good, honest, and fair coach.

nick saban, and his university of alabama.... has now garnered a "monopoly" upon recruitment (he now has it all). so can anyone please honestly tell me.... just how on earth does nick saban, plan to just up and leave all of this behind.... just as per the sake of a few bad investments.... not only tell me (but please make it comprehensive) please.

as i have stated many time prior.... should nick saban journey to austin, tx. i shall salute him and his family. i shall welcome him with as much "texas" hospitality as possible.... but i shall not respect this man. how could i? my parents raised me with far too much integrity to openly "respect" someone that could just jump up and leave so very much behind.... for no real apparent reason.

something is indeed very wrong here "longhorn nation".... am i the only one that thinks so?

I think you have laid out some very valid points.

Ive wondered about a few of those myself for a while after black friday. Just never added up to me with Alabama continuing to dominate on the recruiting front. He literally has national championships lined up as long as they buy into his system. Time will soon show us the truth. Im confident we will be competing for the National Championships in a few years regardless of who they get(to an extent. lol)

With all the smoke out there, who knows what coach is really coming now, seriously mora come on orangebloods.

I don't necessarily think that it is the "Longhorn Nation" where there is something wrong. It's more of a minority wanting something so bad they are failing to see what is really happening. Nick Saban will not be the next head coach at Texas. He may have been interested at one time, he is building another top notch recruiting class. That would be a lot of lies to tell a lot of five star recruits and their families. If by some chance he did say yes, I agree with you and would have zero respect for the man. If he does come I'm prepared to eat crow.

This is not a shot at the MODS here, I realize they are just passing along information, but I believe zero of the Saban to Texas crap.

All dynasties eventually come to an end...maybe he's sensing something that we can not see.

A new major challenge.

An escape from the lifestyle in Tuscaloosa to the lifestyle in Austin.

An escape from the high expectations in Alabama that he has created.

He has hit the ceiling at Alabama.

Perceived ingratitude in Alabama.

A less stressful scenario in Austin.

Dramatically higher income potential in Austin.

A chance to be the first coach to win MNCs at 3 different universities.

A chance to become a legend at the biggest football franchise in the NCAA.

A combination of all or part of the above reasons.

Every person is entitled to make choices about their employment that will make them happy without being derided for the choices they make if they handle the transition in a professional way.

I just don't see him coming here, I do think we have been holding out hope for nothing. I'm ok with not getting him I just want a new coach that will come here and change the entire culture of UT football.

I feel ya, monarch. Saban is a unique dude. He admits (through Terry) that he likes the challenge of building a winner more than maintaining one. The fact that he is friends with some of our BMDs and he is one candidate that most all of them can agree on is a big factor in the pursuit of Saban. Add in the fact that Bear Bryant Jr doesn't want someone trumping his father's legacy at Bama, and you get a better picture of how someone can come here without being a cold blooded SOB.

None of this entire ordeal from the banquet week with Mack and Saban to now has seemed quite right… I just keep feeling like we are entering the dark ages again for awhile.

Dodds hired 4 coaches- Acres was good but didn't fit. McWilliams and Mackovic were horrible…. i remember buying A&M tickets on the 35 yd line 20 row up from field on the west side and south end for $15 and there was not one single person to my right.

I've tried to point this out several times but no really takes serious... What would you do if your wife isn't happy and can see the absurdity of the staye you are residing in? You make a lot of valid points but im sure she has a lot of input. I always argued that she would love Austin and allow both of them a bit of a better living situation. If thats the case how can you fault him for wanting his family to live a close to normal life.

It's easy to leave if the people you trusted with your money lost millions for you. I won't lose respect for a man who gives the finger to people that screwed him and is doing what he can while he can to salvage his financial portfolio.

From the outside, there is no reason to think Saban is coming to Texas. I'm not privy to the emails, etc. of some, all I know is what I can see.

but i shall not respect this man. how could i? my parents raised me with far too much integrity to openly "respect" someone that could just jump up and leave so very much behind.... for no real apparent reason.
This logic doesn't pass the smell test.

There are some guys who will not be satisfied with less than it all. Saban can have everything and more money here. Your inability to respect a coach just because he would "leave so much behind" is bizarre. Blaming a guy just because he can't be satisfied is hyper-judgemental.

Methinks you have ulterior considerations other than your stated reason for withholding respect. What does your genetic integrity meter tell you about a HC who admittedly mailed it in while continuing to cash $5M/yr pay checks?

You still think he is coming?

Hey Zzzizzzy,

Good to see you over here. Have you heard of a hard deadline for acceptance of an offer from the one who shall not be named?
