The Ride

I am curious about Camp 2 - is it a large group, how much power do they have, and are they going to exert their power in the final decision.

Hope we don't over think this. Get someone that can build relationships with high school coaches, and can hire a staff that recruits lights out.

LOL - This is going to outrage more than a few on here, but I actually think his blog is worth $10 a month. I would pay it. Certainly this blog equally worth what IT and OB are charging - don't you think?
It's certainly worth the $10 a month. But I hope that this being a board by the fans for the fans, we won't need to see HS resort to that. I'm much more in favor of HS adding a donate feature.

I may be wrong but no chance Briles goes to the redskins. So would not agree he's not an option. The situation with RG3 is already complicated and he's not universally loved in the lockerroom,,,seen as the owners pet etc. Them brining in his college coach with zero nfl experience just to placate RG3 would be an absolute disaster. I've seen no one that thinks he gets hired there

You are right - there are a lot of classless remarks at OB...the remarks add nothing to the discussion at hand. I don't understand why the monitor isn't on top of some of them.
I am still a member of the OB. It's beyond me why certain posters over there get preferential treatment when it comes to enforcing the board rules. There are certain juvenile posters who act like they are two years old and continue to get away with it while others are given one week bans for minor offenses. One of the things I love the most about this site is the lack of those types of threads. I also like that all of the information is shared without any spin. If the information ends up being wrong then so be it. Generally the person providing the information is just sharing what they hear.

There is no way that working for Dan Synder would be considered better than being at UT. In fact, it might be only better than working for Jerry Jones

I'd have no problem with that as a matter of fact, this whole site is worth $10/mo. IMO

Good stuff.....the ride has me dizzy. Please make it stop.
I just can't get fired up for Strong....

I will settle right now for Briles

Same here
I'm in your camp, but I must admit I really know nothing about Strong. If Saban were coming, which I don't believe he is, he would be my choice.

But these are, in order, my desired choices:

1. Saban (wishful thinking)

2. Jim Harbaugh (more wishful thinking)

3. Art Briles (don't be shocked, I am telling you)

4. Shaw (even more wishful thinking)

5. Petersen (I am more likely to be hit by a wheel falling off an airplane then getting him)

All of the above are PROCESS coaches which I think UT desperately needs.

Everyone else.

(Is there a DKR in this group - sure. But UT is not in the position it was when it hired Royal. We don't have to settle on gambling or trying to develop another DKR or MB.)

again, thats not the argument...

thats not the argument...briles hates UT admins
Don't know who is right but some insiders have disputed that. Guess depends who you talk too. Also several claim Briles would accept if offered. Don't know UT gets to him but i would be more than shocked if Dan Snyder considered him for more than a second other than a token interview to appease rg3

Saban is still very much in play. Some obstacles have been removed per JS today. He also agrees with Mcphaul something could drop next week.

I agree. Besides, coaches are nothing more than egos with legs and arms. Where is Briles more likely to make himself a legend and gain a statue - DC or Austin?

IMHO...Camp #2...Likes the country club and big business ($$$ generated) atmosphere the UT athletic dept can provided. I have appreciated the turn around Mack provided the football program with quality recruits and (only) one MNC. But, it's time for a different atmosphere of higher standard of wins and championships. No, not at all costs but with players hungry to play and willing to knock-off some jocks. Like Ricky W. said in his interview re: bullying, isn't that what football is about? I'm ready to see some Texas teams be the bully on the football field.

In Saban I Trust!

Not at all happy with coaching change?
yeah, Camp #2 is Mack's best friend and obviously not the least bit concerned with having a great program; only wanting to be sure that "we don't go back to the Mackovic type years." ---never mind the fact that, hey, with the kinds of seasons we've had four years running, we're largely there already!

briles hates UT...as close to briles level as it can get without it being briles himself and still having the same last name....briles is a smokescreen...

Hiring college coaches for NFL jobs is risky. I would think that the Redskins would be wary of that, given that they had hired Spurrier before.

I enjoy camping and roller coasters so this is perfect for me.......keep up the good work McP. I really like your statement I have out grown the other site. Me too, time to move on I guess. Love it here so all is well.
