***The Official Texas vs. UCLA Game Thread***

Final Score:  UCLA - 20, Texas - 17

Swoopes goes 24-34 for 196 yards & 2 TD's

Longhorns fall to 1-2 on the season, face the Jayhawks next on September 9/27

Well, I predicted we lose 21-6.  I'd say 20-17 is a bit better than I expected.

Tom, let's not forget our defense sucked ass their first possession of third qtr.
Lets not forget that they shouldn't have gotten the ball back after the half... Players need to put posters of this game up in the locker room and see if the coaches tear them down!!!

I am very proud of our players. They fought to the end against a highly ranked team. We obviously have a long ways to go. It is also obvious the coaches need to get a lot of their own kinks worked out.

I am conflicted with being proud of our players. Two penalties on punts, two holding penalties on same offensive lineman, up by 4 and defensive back let's receiver tub by him, we recover a fumble then drop a pass and can't pass block, too many missed tackles. It was a complete tea. And coaching loss. I am sad. :(

Not conflicted for me. Plenty of mistakes, sure, but the thing that they showed was a fight that has been missing for years.

You can fix mistakes.

Don't anyone blame the coaches. They can't be on the field.

UCLA and BYU both have better athletes that we do overall.

Our kids played one Hell of a game, but fell short. There were mistakes, sure. But I am proud of how they competed tonight, even if they made mistakes.

Swoopes doing so well bodes well for future games. He will get better. Let's hope the receivers do as well.

Of course, the offensive line is still very much a work in progress. We just need more experience and better athletes there. That will come with time.

The back seven on defense still needs to improve a lot.

If I were an outstanding high school player, Texas would be my choice because if I am any good at all, I will get to play. And soon.

Better days are coming.

The kids made mistakes but I am proud of their play... We lack some discipline on the field which is the coaches area to adjust... IMO this was a horribly coached game and it because from the retard play of the year giving UCLA the ball to start and at the half! Clock management was horrible... We made zero adjustments at the half. Zero. Doesn't work well when the other team doesn't agree to also not make adjustments.

Well folks it was a disappointing loss. But with God's help there will be a tomorrow. God bless each and every one of yo hand God bless our Longhorns! Good night

A lot of this game was on the coaches. We wouldn't have seen some of those mistakes even under Mack.
100% with you Lukus,

Opening Flip,

Not matching UCLA Adjustments, big time

Swoopes fine game, but coaching not keeping D honest with Mid range or deeper passes

much more but too tired to list

With all due respect... Neither of those teams have better talent than us. Talent isn't the issue... BYU having better talent than us is ridiculous. We lacked coaching before this year, hence the regime change... IMHO tonight pointed to some glaring coaching issues. Up 4 with roughly 4 mins left and we maintained the ball for roughly 30 seconds... Horrible play calling... I agree the kids didn't play great ball but the coaches did them no favors... Thats just how I saw it.

BCherry I have a tremendous amount of respect for you and your opinions, for years on the various boards, and I agree with much you say above, but I have to disagree on one thing....this game and last, our coaches got blown away by 2nd half adjustments by their opposing coaches.

I agree, sir.  I don't think our fans understand what a 'process' is.  Saban and Harbaugh would have driven them nuts.  Either of them would have looked at these people with a smug smile that says, "You airheads, keep doing what you are doing, and I'll keep doing what I'm doing, and we will see who wears a National Championship ring first.  Gotta go to practice, nice chatting."

Tell our fans it's a process, and they instantly think about baking a cake.  Takes about three hours start to finish.

Honestly, guys!  Now, go get a pedicure.  Sheesh.
