This is a thread to discuss topics that relate to the University of Texas but also aren't really deserving of their own individual thread. We'll see if it actually develops any traction. I'm expecting a lot of embedded off the cuff tweets.

To get us started.

2kUT is Happening

The popular NBA Basketball Video Game NBA 2k16 will be released on September 29th (September 25th for those who pre-order). You're likely wondering why this relates. One of the "ground-breaking" features of this year's game is the ability to use your custom 'MyPlayer' in both High School and College prior to entering the NBA Draft. Because no video game company is currently pursuing a Collegiate Sports Video Game (Due to Bannon vs. EA Sports/NCAA), 2k decided to include a very limited number of licensed teams in the game. It's been confirmed that there will be at least 10 licensed teams. One of those teams just so happens to be the Texas Longhorns.

I don't expect this to interest too many folks here, as I know the crowd. Bunch of old timers  ;)  . But I think this is a really good thing for the University. Especially the basketball program. When I heard there would only be a few teams in the game, I thought Texas would get passed up for the more powerhouse like Universities. The fact that Texas will be represented should shine a light on the program and maybe, just maybe, get a few kids across the nation looking Texas' way to play hoops.

That's pretty damn cool that UT is represented in the game. Kids really do notice things like that.

Good Thread idea also Blake 👌👌👌

Per my OP, here are some screenshots I grabbed from 2k related to Texas. Texas was one of nine schools you could choose to attend with your MyPlayer. UCLA, Villanova, Georgetown, Kansas, Arizona, UConn, Louisville and Michigan round out the other eight. Turner is the only real player on the Texas team as they're only permitted to use players that went pro this year.
