Six - it's not that special. There are no Horsemen that the number associates with; No certain step program; nothing. One is always said to be the loneliest number, but sometimes I think 6 may have a good case for being the loneliest number.

But 6 certainly has a friend today...the Texas Longhorns.

When the Longhorns started the season 2-4, it was difficult to see at that time to see how the Longhorns could win four out of their next six, especially when it looked like they would face many ranked teams. At the time, there were four ranked teams remaining on the schedule, but as the season progressed, team started to fall by the wayside and the Longhorns filled the void.

In the historical context of the Texas Longhorns program, this season will be a forgotten one. It won't be a season that has a highlight DVD made for it. However, it matters a lot for future seasons. The Longhorns will have more practices and an opportunity for the seniors to know that they helped to build something special in Austin.

Six, you don't have to feel irrelevant anymore. The Texas Longhorns and their fans are happy to see you in the win column.

Other College Football from the weekend:

- I have this feeling that TCU will be punished for not beating Kansas with a large margin of victory. They shouldn't be, but the playoff committee will find a way.

- Of course, Mississippi State gets a last-minute touchdown that didn't mean anything and will somehow stay in the top five because of that.

- Speaking of Mississippi State, their best wins just got blown out by Arkansas and Georgia. Not one of them is going to be ranked in the top 15 come Tuesday. Let's be honest, they don't deserve to be in the playoff picture.

- The U almost pulled it off, but Florida State was able to win at the last minute. That's a big win for them, and a tough one to swallow for Miami when they played their best game.

- Mizzou beat the Aggies. You're welcome.

- Clemson's quarterback had three completions and three interceptions in a game. That's almost Case McCoy bad.

- Melvin Gordon should be the front runner for the Heisman Trophy. He has been a consistent performer all season long and then to add 400 yards in one game should warrant the Heisman Trophy.

- Flanagan's top 4
1. Oregon
2. Alabama
3. TCU
4. Florida State

Oregon beat themself......the game was played Thursday and they were at home.

1)  Oregon

2)  Florida State

3)  Baylor

4)  TCU

Why doesn't Mississippi State deserve to be in the picture as much as any other 1 loss team? Their loss was to a quality team and their "quality wins" are on par with most schools at this point.

I think you enter into dangerous territory when you start knocking teams for how teams they beat played. Sure, you can formulate a really good idea (eg. Notre Dame). But I don't think you can make much of a bold statement. I mean, TCU was lauded for their comeback and last second field goal against West Virginia...a team that Texas easily dominated. At this point, TCU's only real credible win was against Kansas State. (Unless you want to argue for Minnesota)
