The Difference in Longhorn Sites.......

Now, I assume we all get grandfathered in when/if u start charging...
As you guys go out and bring more regulars here the money makes itself. Dont think we would.

been on OB for almost 10 years - just joined this site and find it refreshing and informative - when i read that Mcphaul was contributing to horns sports i had to sign on as i enjoy his posts

really enjoyed the forums on OB but not so much of late - feel most of the time many of the posters are more interested in having a slinging match rather than a healthy discussion on football

maybe it is because the site has grown really big - am a fan of the site though

have hardly been on the other sites

I appreciate you for giving us a look!!

I absolutely love this site and agree with your assessment of Orangebloods. My question is what steps will you take on this site to prevent "an overabundance of people being jerks and keyboard soliders?"
Thanks and I'll hang up and listen.
SID,

That is a good question. As you know, I have been attacked as much or more than most. However, when you post what some deem as "inside information", you open yourself up to those that have a different agenda. Sometimes reality is hard pill to swallow especially if it has a negative view on what is transpiring.

I'm of the belief that some of those that attack on a regular basis feel excluded? We are going to try our best to make this a site that includes the fans. This may or not be the site for everyone? Let's roll the dice and see what happens?

Ketch is in it for the $ and it shows. The inmates run the asylum. They had first-mover advantage after Robert and Katy elected to not run with HornFans so they've got the numbers but the content is woeful. They've permanently lost almost every poster who I thought had anything interesting to say, and those guys are not coming back.

IT is doing some pretty good stuff.

If I was looking at a new site - and this probably qualifies as it seems to be quickly adding members - I'd go back and look at some of the things HornFans did right. The best thing IMO was the ease of navigation plus the variety of forums; they had all of the (very) different boards listed on the left-side of the screen and it was easy to hop around. And because of that you could get specific content (baseball, basketball, Austin off-topic and so on) on each forum that otherwise would have gotten lost on a main board. On Orangebloods I never leave Inside the 40; couldn't even tell you how to find the other forums. It's just basic design logic but they don't seem to care. If you want to increase traffic and value that seems like a lay-up. I don't see top-down navigation as effective IMO.

I believe every board brings something to the table. We are fortunate ro have such a wide selection

Excellent points

I think the multi board idea is great and something we will push for. Football, recruiting, Basketball, baseball, off topic, maybe even a board to sell or buy tickets from each other

A marketplace will be launching at the end of the month for those that are interested in classified postings. Tickets and other specific items....

Well, McPhaul, you are the reason I am here. :)

My shield at OB says over 150 months or some such. I joined IT and Hornsports in the last week to 10 days and am really enjoying both. I plan to let my OB sub expire when it does. Kind of sad really what they have let happen but I left Hornfans and didn't look back and I can leave OB too. It's a free market society and Ketch better perk up and notice. Bigger companies than his have fallen.

I'm also on another board that some here are on. They like to keep it fairly quiet but if you wonder where some of the old OB posters are well…..

I read Orangebloods, 24/7, and Shaggy Bevo. All for different things. I frequent Orangebloods and like the OT posts as much as anything. I get tired of all the fighting, and usually it's a couple(not naming names) who are the biggest idiots when it comes to causing trouble. Way too many Mack Brown butt kissers for me too though many are probably trolls. 24/7 is a site I pay for but just don't spend much time on. It does seem like it's being controlled by Bellmont a bit. Shaggy, like I said, I read for other stuff. Not too much Texas sports. I need to look into IT. This site has great potential and I'm confident it won't turn into a constant pissing match like on Orangebloods. Another Longhorn site is great for all of us.

Happy to have found this oasis and the great new" insider " posters...I hope we have content coming on track(m/w), softball, etc.

Girls are positioned to dominate several sports!!

I have even missed a few naps since I found this...Whatever happened to Mike Cotten andHix Green?

after hearing McPhaul I decided to come here also. I've always enjoyed reading what he posts. I'm still a member of OB but just like reading whats said here compared to there especially about the HC situation.

You bring up a good point. The women deserve just as much content. We will work on that.
