You have to admit it has more to do with the problems Texas has had last 4-5 years (coaching and development) and not because he's necessarily a better coach. I think Stoops and Gundy are better coaches than Briles.

I don't think he would've been a good hire. His defenses have been terrible.....when they play a decent offense they get scorched......OSU gave them a beatdown, OU was playing the Belldozer at QB, not last night's Knight. UCF ripped them a new one.

The fact of the matter is they backed into the Big 12 title had OSU not choked against blow U or WVA......yes he's a great offensive coach and he can really develop talent at the QB level......but you have to play some defense....he's almost the Baylor version of the Tceh Mad Pirate....

The candiate I want it Johnny Harbaugh...I think he's a great coach, a proven winner, develops QBs and coaches defense........but if we end up with Saban or fisher I'll be happy....

...darrell, you know that i love you, but a baylor team with "jethro clampett" at quarterback, could have beaten us (multiple times) with the teams that we have been fielding these past years...

Briles did not like the fact he was considered a contingency plan. Briles felt like he had too much to lose by interviewing with us and then, not getting the nod. This would cause dissension with the Baylor folks that just gave him a big raise & have also donated millions to the new facilities and Texas could use that on the recruiting front.
Briles felt like we were not valuing the fact that he is the only in state coach that knew the landscape and had the establish relationships with the Texas HS Football Coaches.

Baylor will never win a National Championship so Briles is a perfect fit there. Tell Art to stay at Baylor. Saban's coming to Texas, and hell's coming with him

We all know that these last four Texas teams have been pretty poor. Not a super impressive feat. I think stoops has also, however. Possibly Gundy as well, unless you mean the ones being considered only, in which case we haven't played them...
