The Bellmont Breakdown - UNT post-game quotes

Charlie Strong: “Sometimes when you feel the pressure, you release the ball when you really don't have to. You just stand in the pocket, you may take a hit. But if you just let the play develop, the receiver or someone is going to come open. “

Reading between the lines – This translates to “Last night isn’t all on the offensive line. David Ash is rusty from his injuries and missing too much time.”

Ash held on to the ball too long on a number of plays last night - pass protection was slim.  He's shaking off the cobwebs no doubt but for season longevity it is imperative that he not try and make things happen when they aren't there.

IMO Ash is not well suited for this O system....it always seeemed to me that he was at his best being instinctive, getting rid of the ball quickly, no huddle etc...i.e. when he doesn't have to think.

When he is least effective is when we are focusing on the run game and also going through progressions and making those kinds of reads.

He is our best option even in this system....but not sure he will ever fluorish in this system

We will need him against BYU...I can't see us being that effective on the run against them, without passing the ball and hurting them that way.
