And Craig Way is BACK on the radio broadcast.  Awesome!

Zeke & Dunn on the call on LHN.

Texas in Burnt Orange jerseys, white pants with burnt orange pinstripes, burnt orange socks and white caps with burnt orange bills.  Very classic look.

CC Islanders are wearing royal blue caps, jerseys and under sleeves, socks and dark gray pants.

Considering what happened in Lincoln and the mess that is Austin traffic, there's a decent crowd on hand for first pitch.

And we're off

T1

Ware

0-1 take (92)

0-2 fouled away left (94)

4-3; (88); 1 out

Hermanson

0-1 take (93)

1-1 up (94)

4-3 (86); 2 outs

Danford

0-1 Check swing; (84)

1-1 down (85)

6-3 (94)

1-2-3

No score heading B1

Perfect start for Johnston:

1. Throw to the mitt

2. Involve your defense with routine grounders

Note: I REALLY like the move of Marlow to leadoff.  He tends to take more pitches than Johnson, and I personally think that's necessary from a leadoff guy.  He needs to tell the other hitters what he's seen.

Marlow

1-0 away

2-0 up

6-3; 1 out

CJ

0-1 fouled away right

FO4 at the wall in shallow RF; 2 outs; wind held that one up in the field of play as it looked like it was going foul

Great play by 2B

Johnson

0-1 take

1-3;

1-2-3

0-0 through 1 complete

T2

Lee

0-1 fouled down

1-2 swing, foul tip

Hits a 2-hopper to Johnston; 1-3; 1 out

Perales

1-0 in

1-1 fouled away right

2-1 away

2-2 fouled back

KS; 2 outs

Salas

0-1 take

B2

Wind blowing out to LF

Shaw

1-0 up

2-0 low/in

2-1 take

2-2 called

3-2 down

F9 by a charging RF; 1 out

Cantu

Lines a single into LCF

Tres

1-0 down

2-0 down

2-1 fouled back; Cantu was moving on the pitch

3-1 up/away; Cantu goes; 2-4 on the putout; 2 outs  I think Cantu may have had his signs mixed up.  Weird for him to steal there.

Walks

Boswell

1-0 up

2-0

2-1 take

2-2 fouled back left

KS; That ball was above the letters.  Horrible call by Blue.

1 LOB

2 in the books; 0-0

LHN had the camera angle at ground level behind the plate for that last pitch, and that pitch was clearly up.

Slim needs to start chirping at the ump a bit.  Maybe he can turn around and call with his good eye.

I liked Cantu jumping on the 1st pitch after the first four guys lulled Harris into thinking the Horns would take several pitches.

T3

Clarke

0-1 take

1-1 up/in

2-1 down

2-2 looks

KS; 1 down

Burner

1-0

2-0  low/away

2-1 take

3-1 down

3-2 look

KS; 2 down

Guilford

0-1 take

1-1 low/in

1-2 fouled back

2-2 down

2-2 fouled down left

3-2 up/away

Walks; pitch up

Ware

0-1 take

0-2 fouled away left; runner was moving

1-2 up

Checks runner

2-2 pitch out; runner advances to 2B w/o a throw as Cantu had trouble on getting the ball out of his mitt.

3-2 up/out

3-2 fouled down right

HBP

Runners on 1&2

Hermanson

1-0 away

Singles back up the middle; RBI

8-5 gets the runner going to 3B

1 LOB

CC up 1-0 going B3

Smart play by Gurwitz to take the out instead of trying to make the perfect throw home. Guilford's wheels are too good for that.

B3

Baker

0-1 take

6-3; 1 out

Gurwitz

0-1 take

1-1 away

1-2 look

2-2

2-2 foul

3-2 dirt

3-2 fouled down left

KS; 2-3 on the put out; 2 outs

Marlow

Line drive double into LCF gap

CJ

1-0 down

F6;

1 LOB

Texas trails CC 1-0 after 3 complete

T4

Andy McGuire to the bump to pitch for Texas

It doesn't get talked about much because of the Marlow-CJH tandem up the middle, but Boswell's defense at 3B is fun to watch. Cannon for an arm.

T4

Danford

0-1 take

1-1

1-2 looks

6-3; 1 out

Lee

5-3; 2 outs

Perales

0-1 take

1-1 down

Singles into CF between CJ & 2B bag

Salas

0-1 takes a curve

0-2 fouled down left

Tres with a quick "how ya doin'" with McGuire

KS;

Texas trails 1-0, headed B4
