Texas (7-12, 1-6 Big 12) vs. Oklahoma (8-10, 2-5 Big 12)

When: Monday, January 23, 2017

Time:  8:00 PM

Venue: Frank Erwin Center

Location: Austin, Texas

TV: ESPN

Series All-time Record:  Oklahoma leads, 53-36.

Last meeting: Texas 76-63 (Feb. 27, 2016; Austin).

Storyline - The Longhorns finished a recent 3-game Big 12 stretch against 3-Top 10 ranked opponents.  Texas has lost 5 straight and needs a win against a struggling Oklahoma team in hopes of turning around what has been a disappointing season thus far.

Longhorn freshman forward Jarrett Allen is coming off his best game in burnt orange, as he posted 22 points and 19 rebounds in the team's loss to top-ranked Kansas on Saturday in Lawrence.

Over the last 3-game stretch, UT freshman guard Andrew Jones is averaging 15.7 points, 4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest.

Starters for tonight's game against Oklahoma:

Texas leads OU early on 11-6 with 14:54 left in the 1st half.

This is a game of runs where both teams play like crap and don't score while the other one does.

Allen with about five turnovers in the last five minutes. Sloppy, poor decision making, bad hands. NBA first round projected? Wow. He has moments, obviously last game vs KU, but this performance might just lose this game for Texas.

Free throw shooting is shaq onealesque as usual. I had checked out of hoops and decided to watch....this might kill me tonight

For the record, I thought it was a terrible shot selection down by 2, but hey, he knocked it down. Props for the confidence and ability to knock it down. TEXAS WINS!

Pissed of guy stopped watching with 19 seconds left and Texas looking to pick up another L. Checked ESPN app on phone and saw they were up one with 1.9 sec left....missed a good ending. Still not liking the poor play after being up the entire second half. Here I am complaining about a win over OU, what an entitled jackass!

I read your post and thought I typed that. It's exactly what I did. As soon as Roach missed the bank shot and subsequently fouled I turned the channel. Stupid me, but I've seen too many close but not quite enough games this year. Good win against OU.

^^^This

...is just one reason why I DVR all the games. I also tend to get busy and miss game time. I like being able to skip commercials and halftime. Though it is sometimes a challenge to avoid seeing or hearing of the game when out to dinner and such.

I am ever hopeful and watch for improvement with this young team. One thing I can see is they fight to the end.

Oh but for want of a true point man...

Okay.... I DVR'd this game as well and might need to go back and watch.  A win vs OU is worth an hour or so?

Here is a basketball related question that will reveal my lack of attention this year:

It seems to me we had two players on our roster going into the year that I have not seen on the court for one minute during the season:  One was a transfer from someplace like..... Tulane?  He looked really good in the preseason scrimmage; but I have not seen him play a regular season game....

The other was a recruit from over the pond.... seems like a former Soviet bloc country (could be wrong about this).

What happened to these guys?  Injury, redshirt, never made it to campus..... One of them is probably   Dylan Oselkowski (from the roster), but what happened?

Interested to hear responses.
