Texas baseball team is just snake bitten this year. I've never seen a team hit so many hard balls that didn't find a hole.

Skip pulling Mayes for Bellow hurt...but who would have thought...Bellow had been doing well lately.... Gotta hit the ball when bases are loaded.....That and Clemens not fielding the shot at him right after that was a killer resulting in 2 runs when the inning was all over....He is usually clutch on defense.....Thats the way baseball go.........

Said that they came up with the big hits and we didn't. 

McKenzie showed some guts with two big punchouts with bases loaded. 

Ben hit the ball hard and the CF made a great play on it. 

We'll come back and get 'em tomorrow.

That ball hit at Clemens was a rocket, (no pun intended.)  There probably isn't a 1B in D1 that makes that play cleanly.  He had to stab backhanded to just get a mitt on it.  They got the timely hits when they needed them and leadoff walks kill in late innings.

bull**** Java, I do know how well he played first. Thats why I didn't want him pitching. We needed a great 1B.... Problem is he can't hit. I wanted to know about Cantu because he can throw guys out at catcher, and he also DHs some.

I'll probably get in the HF poster doghouse for this, but I agree, he can't hit a lick.

Today is when injuries hurt. We could have used more of Johnston and Mayes out of the pen if we didn't need them to start.

I can see why Augie is excited about the young arms on this team. He might have the best freshman arms in the country. Johnston, Mayes, and McKenzie have all been good. Schimpf and Robinson might be the best out of the bunch, but have been injured.

The man has won more games coaching than I ever did so I have to trust him. When it works it's great. It worked against Baylor and earlier in the game when we scored. This time it didn't.

When Clemens is in the lineup it's not our best team IMO

I love the kid, but we've got better players

I agree with you more often than not on this subject but I don't think it was nuts to do it in this situation. I think there's a case both ways.

FINAL: Oregon State 5 – Texas 4

The Texas Longhorns lost a heartbreaker to Oregon State in Game 1 of the Dallas Regional. The Beavers won the game 5-4 on an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The game was filled with dramatic plays on offense and spectacular plays on defense. At the plate, Brooks Marlow’s 8th inning homerun that tied the game at 4-4 was one of the most memorable moments of the day.

Texas struck first in the top of the fourth inning when Tres Barrera hit an RBI single, scoring Joe Baker, and giving the Horns a 1-0 lead. Four batters later Kacy Clemens struck out with the bases loaded, ending the Texas scoring threat.

OSU seized momentum at that point, scoring four runs over the next three frames. The Beavers countered Texas’ brief lead by scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, using a hit batter, a wild pitch and three consecutive singles to take a 2-1 lead.

Trailing 4-1, Texas scratched a run across in the top of the seventh frame on a sacrifice fly by Ben Johnson. Marlow’s blast knotted the game an inning later. Zane Gurwitz robbed OSU of a homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning, keeping Texas within striking distance.

Starting pitchers Andrew Moore (Oregon State) and Parker French (Texas) kept the game scoreless for the first three innings. Both pitchers allowed four runs on the day, and neither factored in the decision.

After recording the last out in the top of the eighth frame, Sheldon Church (1-0) got the win for Oregon State courtesy of their game-winning hit later that inning. Kirby Bellow walked the batter that scored the game-winning run, and although Jake McKenzie gave up the RBI double, the runner belonged to Bellow. Bellow suffered the loss, dropping to 3-2 on the year.

The Longhorns fall in the loser’s bracket and are scheduled to play an elimination game on Saturday morning at 11:00am. Texas will face the loser of the game between Dallas Baptist and Virginia Commonwealth.
