a big 'who cares' to me. does anybody here actually refer to it by it's corporate name ever? nope. it's just 'the ou game'.

i can't believe anyone cares about this one way or the other. they can call it the 'wax cup full of overpriced beer fall social' for all i care.

it'll still just be the ou game to me.

This is the kind of stuff that I simply don't care about. Allow me to get on my high horse for a second.

People get all up in arms about naming rights and etc. as if it breaks tradition or leaves a black mark on a brand. But you know what. It doesn't do anything but change a logo and make the schools some money. An example of this would be a few short months ago when the Texas Rangers signed a naming rights deal with Globe Life on their Stadium. So now it's been renamed from the Texas Rangers Ballpark in Arlington to Globe Life Park in Arlington. You know what fans are calling it? The Ballpark in Arlington. Just as they've always done. And guess what...the Rangers are still making that money and in turn, making improvements to the roster and ballpark. Do you think people go on Facebook and Twitter talking about how they can't wait to get to AT&T Stadium? No. Everyone up here still refers to it as Cowboy Stadium. Yet, Dallas is sitting back making that money all the while. So if Texas and Oklahoma decide to bring in a paycheck each year for naming their game after a sponsor, I'm okay with it. Because at the end of the day, I, just like thousands of others, will still be calling the game the Red River Shootout (Rivalry).

I say we go back to Red River Shootout and tell the PC crowd to kiss our asses.  The gun culture is a big part of Texas and Oklahoma history and doesn't always imply violence.  I admit that the term "shootout" does indeed imply violence but it's in a folksy, nostalgic kind of way.  No harm in that.

I like it a helluva lot better than "Red River Rivalry". Try saying that 3 times fast!

Actually, I usually call it JerryWorld.

The thing I find the most amusing about the Shootout term, is the fact that it's still used. Sure, it's not the name of our rivalry anymore. But watch any high scoring game and I guarantee you that you'll hear the Announcer refer to the game as a shootout at least once when returning from commercial break.
