The match-up will pair two of the NCAA's all-time winningest programs in 2024 and 2027.

Austin -- The University of Texas has reached an agreement in principle with the University of Michigan for a home-and-home football series in Ann Arbor on Aug. 31, 2024, and in Austin on Sept. 4, 2027, the school announced Wednesday. The agreement will be presented to The UT System Board of Regents for their consideration on Nov. 5-6, 2014.

The match-up brings together two of the winningest programs in NCAA history with Michigan ranking first in all-time wins with 912, while Texas is third with 876.

The lone previous meeting between the two schools came in the 2005 Rose Bowl following the 2004 season. The two storied programs created a classic as Texas prevailed, 38-37, on Dusty Mangum's 37-yard field goal as time expired. Vince Young accounted for 372 yards and five TDs, including 192 yards and four TDs on the ground, as the Longhorns won in their first BCS Bowl appearance to cap an 11-1 season.

Great series for the 'Horns and Wolverines. Texas fans invading the big house in 2024 should make for a nice road trip.

More than enough time for both programs to get turned around and return back to prominence.

This could be a titan of a game when it comes around.

UT vs Michigan may be a helluva game next decade, but I'd rather see us schedule traditional SEC powers; Bama, LSU, FL, UGA, UTe, and maybe Auburn.

I really feel like Texas (Patterson) needs to work on a Home and Home with LSU. Given the influx of great recruits out of Louisiana lately, it may benefit Texas to have a series like that. It gives those kids some added incentive if they know they get to come home for a game.

I would rather schedule home/ with LSU than ever play aggy again.
