Should have left joey in!       :(

He had to depart us for a nice steak and a vat of chardonnay with his work clients.

Left us with the Mickey's hand grenades (and the loss)!

Is the modern athlete a pale imitation of the great old warriors?

Only Crash Davis stand out this year, begging the question, "What are these boys thinking about, 'cause it sure ain't baseball."

***********************************************

Sorry, I love that quote.

Seriously though, what the heck happened when I left in the 7th?  Duke gets an out, Shugart gets an out, and we give up two in T9.  SMH.

My thoughts:

  • Yeah, yeah, yeah, this is a good Lamar team, with wins of #7 LSU and #23 ASU, but we should beat them.
  • Mentioned it during the game, stringing hits together is something we have had a hard time doing in our losses.  We get one on, and two down before we get a hit.  End up with runners on 1&2, or on the corners, then fail to find that timely hit to knock them in.
  • Say what you will about Lamar, but they really squared up several balls tonight.
  • Didn't see the misplay in CF, but that didn't help, neither did the call on Rand; (listened to that on the radio on my way to my dinner and both Craig and Bill felt he was clearly safe.  Blue disagreed.)
  • Oklahoma is very streaky coming into this weekend.  They win 5, lose 5.  They lost 5 in a row before beating Arkie Little Rock tonight.
  • I don't know what Texas team shows up this weekend.  Take your pick.
  • Mayes struggled in his appearance.  He needs to bounce back.
  • For your daily dose of sunshine; this one doesn't count in conference.  We currently sit tied for 3rd with TCU.  Ok St is undefeated at 5-0 and Tech has a 5-1 record.

Great quote joeywa and very apropos. The problem is this team doesn't have the brave old warrior that stands out. This is something I never thought I would day about this baseball program, but they don't know how to win anymore.
