Texas vs. Kansas State Recap

I am not opposed to  Chad Morris as he is a damn good Coach with a long Coaching stint as a High School Coach here in Texas.  I think you put him with the right program such as Texas he will have great success.

I wouldn't mind Fedora+Chizik.
Nor would I. It's important to not discount the staff that an HC brings. Fedora would likely bring Chizik, and Herman would likely bring Orlando (and maybe Applewhite; I get the impression Gilbert might leave if Charlie's gone).

I'll say it again. Chad Morris anyone???
I mean, he doesn't have that inspiring of a track record so far. A 5-14 record with SMU through 1.5 years and no previous college coaching experience beyond that makes me a bit apprehensive. His wins so far (apart from tonight) have been against UNT, Tulane, UNT again, and Liberty. Not exactly quality wins. Plus, he literally has recruited no one from outside of Texas in his 2 years at SMU.

I've been teetering every so slightly toward thinking Charlie should get 1 more year.

I'm no longer teetering. No way he should be back.

And no matter what happened tonight, Herman is the first call I make, after calling Saban and Meyer that is  :)

Careful my friend. Herman's Cougars are down 21-0 to SMU. Chad Morris to Texas train anyone? haha

As far as I'm concerned, Herman's resume is complete. A win or loss against SMU isn't going to suggest he is good or bad coach.

That said, Chad Morris is a name that Texas should consider. He's rebuilding SMU the right way and it's starting to pay some dividends. Solid coach, same cutting edge offense. His defense (Van Malone, DC) was lights out tonight.

Herman and Morris might be the two best coaches to look at.

Agree all the way around.

Hell, I would even throw Petersen, Patterson, Harsin, and Fuentes into the mix if I can't get Herman.

I'm totally kidding on the Morris front. What he has been able to accomplish at SMU is great though. Can't look at record there. That place was a shit show when he arrived.

I think you have to look at the success Chad Morris had while he was the OC at Clemson as Head Coach Dabo Swinney even stated that it was his offensive scheme and his ability to recruit and develope players that was the biggest impact for our program success.  In the short time that he has been at SMU you have seen much improvement in how this team plays and you have seen that he quickly recruited better players. What he does not have is depth to substitute and rest players and this catches up with them in the second half of most games.

No worries, I knew you were kidding. It was more in response to several people (not just on this site, but others) who have seriously been suggesting Chad Morris since last night. Seems like quite a few people are just grasping at straws for Charlie's replacement.

I'm not going to assume we cannot get the coach of our dreams.  That is ridiculous.  I want: Meyer or Petersen.  They are complete coaches with long successful track records.  After that throw in Fedora and Herman (shorter resume).

If we expect the team to have high standards, striving for perfection, we need to do the same!
