Texas vs. Kansas State game thread

Knebel gives up a triple and K-State scores a run. Headed to the top of the 9th it is 6-5 Texas.

Weiss is killing the baseball. This team is coming into its own. Should be a fun Big 12 run.

And correct me if I am wrong but Walsh put together 9 hits in this series!! The bats have come alive.

Walsh is now leading the team with a .360 average. Texas has six guys over .250. What a difference a few weeks makes!

“It’s all about who handles the pressure of the game,” Hill said. “They (Texas) handled it better offensively. They got the swings when we didn’t make pitches. We made mistakes and they were ready to hit them. From our offensive standpoint, we had a couple opportunities and we didn’t handle the pressure. We have to figure that out.”

There is a bit of relief in beating this school in baseball. I haven't stopped fuming from the football losses over the last few years but I feel a little better tonight.

Hey guys is the Cal series going to be played at the Dell Diamond?

Yes, and the season ticket holders are none too pleased. $10 a ticket, all GA, and there will probably be a charge for parking. All because we suddenly can't handle the traffic of Texas Relays...even though it's really a move to show off using the Dell Diamond for college baseball (in an effort to move the Big XII Championship). I predict smaller than usual crowds, and it's a shame when you consider what this series could have been at the Disch as far as fan turnout and atmosphere goes.

I am a season ticket holder and this does not bother me and I actually like this move to the Dell Diamond. I think this is good for College Baseball in general.

The thing is, season tickets didn't go down in price this year, but we did lose a weekend of tickets by this series being at the Dell Diamond. I think they could have at least done discounted tickets for season ticket holders to encourage people to make the trek to Round Rock. We live in north Austin, but we're equidistant from the Disch and Dell Diamond. I can't imagine that many people who live in central, west or south Austin are going to want to make the trip up to Round Rock and pay for parking and tickets on a Friday night after work. We simply can't make it to the game by the time first pitch happens because we both work across town. We will be at Saturday's game, which is when I anticipate the biggest crowd. The thing is, the Relays are never that big of an issue at the Disch. That's the excuse they used for doing this. In years past, Texas fans were able to simply cross the interstate and make it to the Orange and White game, but now we have to choose since the events are so far apart. This is meant to show off the facilities in Round Rock, but honestly, it's not going to do them justice. We should be more concerned with showing Cal what a real crowd can be like at the Disch - and this could have been a packed house all three games. The Dell Diamond has 1500 more seats than the Disch (and that's not counting the room for 3,000 fans in the grassy areas at Dell Diamond). If everyone who was going to be at the Disch goes up to Round Rock, we will still have 1500 empty seats... and simply put, not everyone is going to go.

Is it just to make the game more of a "community" event in hopes of selling more seats? Sounds like accessibility is an issue as well. I wonder if the players get a kick out of playing there also? Nice facility.
