Texas vs. K-State weekend series

Game 1 delayed to 7PM today due to weather.

After a great throw out of runner at 3rd, Gordon gets out of the 1st with no damage.

Texas gets 1 run on 3 hits to lead 1-0 after 1 complete.

Thru 3 complete 2-1 K-State.

Gordon has thrown over 70 pitches thru the 3 innings.

Lefty is giving Horns trouble 6 K's.They have out hit the cats 4-1

Thru 4 complete still 2-1.

Gordon gets thru the top of the 5th.  He is at 93 pitches- only 1 hit given up and has 7 strikeouts, but the walks and hit by pitch is hurting his chance to go long in the game. Maybe not if he can get another quick inning in the 6th.

Top 7th. Gordon done for the night. His line 6 innings: 2 run, 2 hits, 3 walks, 9 strikeouts.  Andre D. comes in and walks the 1st 2 batters.

K-State starter also has 9 strikeouts tonights.

K-State gets a run on an error by Andre bad throw to 1st on a bunt. Now 3-1. K-State still batting in the top of the 7th with guys now on 2nd and 3rd no outs.

The wheels are falling off in the top of tje 7th.

2 more runs score on a squeeze bunt as both runners score.

Now a triple. 1 at 3rd with 2 outs in the top of the 7th.

K-State left their starter in too long.

5 runs on 5 hits and a sac fly to go ahead in the bottom of the 8th for Texas at 6-5. 

After 8 complete 6-5 Texas.

Over 6-5 KSt. pitching coach sure helped Texas. Need to sweep this team.

Texas comes back to win the game 6-5.

Texas has won 16 straight at home.

This is becoming a Okie Lite and Texas race for the conference as OSU is at 7-3 and Texas is at 5-2.  

Game 2 on Saturday at 2:30 PM and game 3 is Sunday at 1PM.

I have to admit withe score 5-1 K St, I was saying some choice words to myself. I'm glad to say I had to eat them after.

Glad to see the bats wake up in the bot of the 8th and also good to see Morehouse get back in his groove. Great comeback win at home!

What in the world happened on the squeeze bunt that allowed 2 runners to score? I saw that on twitter and was trying to figure out what the heck happened there.

K St had runners on 3rd & 2nd who were taking off with the pitch and it was a well place bunt. The runner from 3rd scored easily, the runner on 2nd (who was fast) never slowed down and headed for home after rounding 3rd. The pitcher threw to 1st for an out and the 1st baseman threw the ball to the plate. It was originally ruled an out, however replay showed the runner beat the tag. It was just good execution of a good play by K St.

Curious to know what was Texas' poor pitching decisions?

Personally I thought the home plate ump was off last night. He called several pitches, by both teams, balls that I thought were strikes.

Let Gordan pitch too long high pitch count. KSt made same decision. First pitcher after Gordon had nothing.. This has happened a lot this season  bull pen pitchers IMO not managed very well..

Gordon was in a groove after the 2nd inning so I can see why Pierce let him pitch to start the 7th. After seeing a couple of pitches that were balls by Gordan, he went to Duplantier who walked 2 then made the throwing error and was promptly pulled. I'm not the biggest fan of Pierce's but how was he to know Duplantier was going to do what he did?

Thats the bull pen coaches call. Watch he pitcherwarming up should be able to tell if he has it or not.

Same from pee wee ball to majors.

Game 2 has started nothing doing in the  1st.  Looks like little to no wind to carry hard hit balls out.
