Texas vs Dallas Baptist Baseball Thread

Schiraldi gets through 8 without giving up a run. Excellent outing so far. Heading to the bottom of the 8th 5-0 Texas.

A&M apparently have tied it up in the bottom of the 8th. Still you shouldn't be struggling with a Tuesday plug in team that's 5-7 on the year and only won 1/3 against UT SA.

We get Columbia this weekend. If we don't win 2 out of 3 then something is seriously wrong. We should actually sweep them.

Thanks for the game thread. I was working hard today in AZ and my training classes went late. Glad to read the recap. Appreciate it!

Nice night for Texas commit too. Chase Shugart had 16ks tonight. Pretty impressive since high school ball is only 7 innings. That means Shugart struck out 16/21 outs.

Looking at those polls we don't stand a chance in hell in conference play. Go 1-2 against the bottom team and a slew of ranked teams still left. Its a good thing that ya'll schedule well OOC because there isn't a lot of help RPI-wise in conference play.

A&M's problem is they really didn't perform well in non-conference. You have a bad loss to Sacramento State and a really bad loss to LA Tech. The Aggies were swept by the only decent team they played in nonconference in Fresno State. The Aggies literally don't have a good win in their nonconference. That's the problem when you schedule nobody in nonconference. If you lose a couple games you can't make ground up because you play nobody.

Texas will be fine in terms of RPI. Texas doesn't play any great teams but they don't play any bad teams either in the Big 12. Based on our nonconference and conference schedule, Texas has a great chance to finish top 15 in terms of RPI.

I was at Olsen tonight as I live here and was given free tickets 8-7 in 11. The Starter for Columbia was pretty decent sat 89-91 with a decent slider. Didn't see a change up but A&M wasn't ready to play. I took a pinch hit home run to tie it and then a double in the 11th win it for them. But they didn't look ready to play until about the 7th inning.

That Columbia team isn't good. They've lost series to Kennesaw State and Texas San Antonio. They haven't won a series all year, they split with South Florida. Texas has a great shot to get to 19-6 this weekend. The fact that A&M scored 8 runs makes me excited for this weekend, because maybe our bats can get in a groove. Texas A&M has struggled more then Texas with the bats, and they scored 8 runs against Columbia.

I can agree that we aren't very good. Our teams are quite similar actually, but we don't have a player like Mark Payton to spark the offense and the bullpen hasn't held up as well as expected. Having good starters means nothing if you can't put runs on the board to help them out. We've been held to one run in 6 of 22 games and have a 1-4 record on the road. This season could get ugly with road series against Vandy, Miss. St., and Ole Miss still left. Nola has been incredible for LSU this year, its sad that may be the only reason I go see us play LSU at Olsen. What do the baseball writers see that makes us top 30?
