Texas vs. Cal-State Fullerton weekend series

A shaky start for Gordon in the bottom of the 1st. 31 pitches- lead off double, hit batter, and a walk. Did get out of the inning with no damage done.  

Thru 1 0-0.

1-1 now Powell hit a HR.

Middle 3rd. 1-1. Powell hit his 1st homerun as a horn in the top of the 3rd.

Texas starting to get hits off the Cal-State Fullerton starter in the top of the 4th. It's now 3-1 Texas. Texas is still batting.

Top of the 4th for Texas. They bat around in the inning. Eric Kennedy has 3 hits- single,double, and triple with 2 runs batted in.

Now 5-1 Texas.

Gordon doesn't make it out of the 4th.  3 and 2/3 innings with 90 pitches, 4 walks, 5 hits, 4 runs, not certain of the strikeouts.

Burke comes on in relief. Hits a guy. Gets a pop up only to have Brown fall down to tie up the game.  Burke gets a strikeout to end the inning.

Unbelievable.

We lose 6-5 on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 8th.

We got 10 hits, no errors, but Gordon didn't pitch well.

Would like to know @Joeywa thoughts on the Texas top of the 6th.

T6 was atrocious. Texas had a great opportunity, and the slide into 2B was not something that you see called often. From my perspective right behind the plate, it didn’t appear egregious. It was a slide that allowed the runner’s knee to touch the bag, albeit a shade away from the path. Also, Fullerton was not even attempting to turn the DP, slide or not. It was going to be a FC. 
Also, the call of interference wasn’t made immediately, it was a delayed call. 
Bad calls happen. It is unfortunate that it happened at that point in the game.

For you UT baseball fans, I’m sure you remember Jeff Ontiveros. He passed away yesterday at young age of 40. He was on the natty team in 2002, from Round Rock.

After the 1st inning of game 2.  It's 2-1 Texas. Texas got back to back homers.

Morehouse gave up 1 run on 2 hits.

After 3 innings. It's  3-1 Texas. Got the run back in the top of the 2nd inning.

Listening to Keith and Ty on the streaming audio (free) and they do seem to be questioning the balls and strikes. How about you @Joeywa ?  Does seem that Zane has adjusted.

Thru 7 innings it's now 4-2 Texas.  Peyton Powell is playing solid 3rd base as a starter for the 1st time.

Looked like Zane struggled early but really got it together over his last 4 innings of work. Bullpen was solid as well.

The bats have come alive a bit more these first two games. More timely hits for RBIs.
