Texas vs. Cal Baseball Thread

If Texas can win the series we will be in good shape headed into the Tech series on Thursday. I have been traveling and just returned today so I wasn't able to keep up with the game but I'm with you guys -why not leave Brooks at 2nd and Etier at short full time? The way this team started and how they pulled themselves back up warrants the best use of resources - in every game. I wasn't sure if Marlow had a slight injury??

And what was the turnout like today? Lots of empty seats?

Turnout was much better today. I don't think many people will make the trip tomorrow since the spring game is 20 miles away.

No injury for Marlow at all. When we finally brought him in as a pinch hitter he brought in the first run of the game. Then he stayed in the game at second and Etier slid back to short. Aside from the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" thing... it can't be easy to switch back and forth between SS and 2B.

And djb, great shot of Felts.

SUNDAY

Man on 2nd and one out in the ninth - we have to find a way to get him home. Stinks that we lost the series to those West Coasters!

Just when this baseball team takes you to the top ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ they kick you right back down. Frustrating loss today.

For those that were preoccupied with other things like Texas Relays and the Spring Game, TexasBaseballBlog has put up the game recap on their website - www.texasbaseballblog.com and on the home page of our site.

I say this should be our lineup going forward:

Mark Payton - RF

Jordan Etier - SS

Erich Weiss - 3B

Jonathan Walsh - LF

Alex Silver - 1B

Landon Steinhagen - DH

Jacob Felts - C

Brooks Marlow - 2B

Tim Maitland/Taylor Stell - CF

That gives us Kevin Lusson off the bench as a DH/1B/3B/C if need be, defensively. I'd also like to start using Hunter Redman in midweek games, at least for some innings. I love Felts, but we are going to work him to death.

Starting rotation needs to be Thornhill/French/Jacquez, with the latter two needing to go much deeper into the games. I like using Dillon Peters as a situational lefty, but we should also start pushing him deeper into the midweek games. It was very frustrating pulling him after 2 innings on Wednesday evening. The one bright spot of Saturday was Dicharry going over three innings.
