InsideTexas is reporting that Texas RBs Kyle Porter and Tristian Houston are entering the Transfer Portal. Porter mentioned earlier in the season that he may redshirt to preserve another season of eligibility. Houston has not received much playing time, if any, during his tenure at Texas. The potential transfers of both Porter and Houston is not surprising, but it does not bode particularly well for Texas' running back depth.

If Porter and Houston both transfer out, here is what the potential depth chart could look like in 2019:

1. Keaontay Ingram (Soph.)

2. Daniel Young (Junior)

3. Kirk Johnson

4. Derrian Brown (Fresh.)

5. Jordan Whittington (Fresh.)

As expected.

They had been recruited over and now have 5* Whittington to watch get snaps.  It was time.

I was kind of hoping Porter would stay. Regardless of his running ability, which is minimal, he was decent in pass protection IIR.

IMO, its a good thing for them and UT. They weren't getting snaps so obviously we're not concerned with the depth chart. Its time for them to get some.

IF Johnson stays healthy, I think this is your order on the depth chart:

1. Keaontay Ingram (Soph.)

2. Kirk Johnson

3. Derrian Brown (Fresh.)

4. Jordan Whittington (Fresh.)

5. Daniel Young (Junior)

My prediction

1. Ingram- I saw Tre Watson said the Ingram has an Heisman in his future. Needs to build body.

2. Young - I'm guessing that Young will start the as the backup then Brown will get more carries as the season goes on.

3. Brown.

4. Johnson- played on special team the last two years, but didn't get any carries. He was talented as a freshman, have no idea now.

Wildcard Whittington- not sure how much the coaches will want him at RB or WR.or both.
