Texas Offers Blinn DB Kendall Sheffield

Source tells me Texas has extended an offer to former Alabama signee Kendall Sheffield. Coach Washington was down in Brenham today and offered the former 5-star DB.

Sheffield plays his cards close to the vest, so I will try to keep my ears open on this one.

He's familiar with the staff, which is a positive, but I want to see him visit to see if his interest is legit. All of the big dogs are after him.

Just went and looked that up, and yes, you are correct. Ouch.

Could be possible that Devo simply wasn't the starting TE. Which would probably say more than his production. Either way, not really a good look.

Devo told me during the season the coach wouldn't play him at tight end and insisted he played defensive end seems there was a issue with him and the coaches or from what the coaches told him while recruiting him

Texas needs another great blocker and receiver at the TE position....another David Thomas.

TE is a under valued unappreciated position until you have a David Thomas/Jermichael Finley 

type come along and make big contributions.

That looks to be the case. He finished the year appearing in 9 games and recorded 1 catch for 1 yard and 1 solo tackle on the year.

I was told he wanted a fresh start. Sometimes kids just want a change of scenery and that seems to be the case here. Had no disciplinary issues that I can remember and hasn't been a problem at Blinn.

The reviews I got on Devo were not encouraging at all. I wouldn't even worry about him moving forward.

Not trying to bash the kid, but I was told straight up that him on offense just wasn't going to work out, which is why the move to defense was encouraged.
