Texas men's golf regional play

Top 5 teams advance out of each regional. Crazy day yesterday in other regionals, a lot of the top teams didn't perform well at all.

Final day of play is today. All that matters is finishing in the top 5 and advancing to the NCAA championships (Texas currently has an 11 shot lead on the 6th place team).

Tech is a good team, #9 in the country, but they got lucky as hell to be able to play on their home course in the regionals. Texas beat Tech by 24 strokes on a neutral course in the Big 12 tournament.

Texas is playing out of its mind today. Up 8 strokes on Tech (hole 15). If Texas plays like this they are going to win a national title. Putting a whooping on a top 10 team on their course is impressive.

Not looking good as Texas has fallen to 23rd place well into the second round. So far, they have the worst team score of the day.

Texas is tied for 14th. They need to finish in the Top 15 to keep playing.

Terrible start for Texas on day 1 and 2, but they are somehow still in this. Texas is tied for 6th right now on day 3 hole 7.

The top 15 teams advance. Then a round 4, top 8 teams advance. Then match play. I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

So up to sixth overall? Followed by a clean slate for the next rounds? Sounds good to me if I am analyzing this accurately.

The scores carry over to round 4.  So top 8 teams would advance tomorrow out of 15, based on the 4 rounds. Texas just needs to be in position to finish in the top 8 tomorrow and get into match play.

Thanks, so we need to qualify and get to the final match play scenario. Appreciate the update.

Texas didn't finish round 3 because of weather. They are currently in 6th on hole 12.

They are 14 strokes up on 16th place , so Texas won't miss the 4th round cut.

They are 2 strokes up on 9th place. The 4th round will likely determine if Texas makes match play. If they play like today they should be fine.
