there's a thread on TOS (that's for you cheese) saying Smart has already reached out to former players like TJ Ford and others. Savvy move and a quick one. Perhaps it's mentioned on this board too in one of the many threads and i missed it.

I am more excited about the Smart hire than I was about Strong....was always a little concerned that Strong too defensive oriented and thinking a pound it out only O would be successful in the B12....there are going to be at least 3 B12 wins that require a shootout...appears that Strong now agrees with that....

As I learned tonight, Texas joins Stanford and Georgia Tech now as the only programs with an African-American football and (men's) basketball coach.

I'm pretty sure Paul Johnson over at Georgia Tech is not African American

In fairness, Johnson does have darker skin than Shaka. Nice tan!

Okay, so two of the top Universities in the country, and I have lived and worked in the shadow of both.

Other than working in Austin, a really cool spot is having an office just off University Ave in downtown Palo Alto.

Worked there for about two years in mid-80s. Great lunch break strolls. Nice area. And a helluva lot safer for bike riding... Foothill Expressway... Portola Valley, Woodside... etc. Sure miss that after getting back here.
