Texas Hires New Creative Director

Matt Lange will officially become the Longhorns' new Creative Director on February 6th. On the 2nd, Lange will leave the same position at Alabama. 

Remember when Tom Herman mentioned he needed to hire a graphics designer? Well, he just hired one of the best in the country. Lange was with Alabama since 2013, and cited that his return home to Texas was primarily due to family. Although Lange is not involved in coaching, he was a tremendous help to Bama in recruiting. Recruits care about social media and graphics, and Lange is an expert in those 2 categories. All in all, Tom Herman is building quite the football staff. Lange is an excellent hire that will no doubt help this program moving forward.

What does he do that is so impactful as a quality control guy vs a full time position coach? Not seeing the importance of this guy at this time. Anyone in the know on his duties and skill set?

I think Will might have meant to mention someone else. The Horny hire does not have much significance. As a QC you cannot coach. Lange will definitely make his money in recruiting

I see your point, and that you were stating that he would be an important hire. At first read it implied, at least to me, that Horny was being billed as an important hire. Thanks for the clarification!

The QC guys are the ones who break down film and work to identify both ours and an opponent's tendencies, weaknesses, etc. Think of it more like a scouting position.

Whoever it is, I wish he'd advise certain HS writers not to start another thread every time a recruit is offered. We've already got one for each year 2017, 2018, 2019. IMO, it's overkill and inane.
