Hate to sound like an ignorant UT fan, but at first glance at the Rushmore above I thought someone jokingly had put Wickline on the monument. I threw up, then realized it was DKR.

It's good, but one could easily add Nobis, Layne, and Jimmy Street. Legends, one and all.

Sorry, know it's not popular but Street isn't a Top 5 guy.   Was not even an All American.

Where is the love for Duke Carlise who actually delivered our 1st title?

Nobis Earl Ricky Vince if it's just players.    No idea who I'd take off if we bring DKR into the mix.

Next guy to me is Bobby Layne.

Colt is certainly a top 10 inclusion, winning-est Power 5 QB in history, 2 time Walter Camp, 2 X All American

Jerry Siesmore, easily the greatest OL to come out of TEXAS and big ugglies need love too.

That's 7 . . .. now it gets really tough.

The 4 mentioned are the 4 Greatest but I have a different take on 'most important '.

Two to consider for 'important '...

DX Bible. The coach who made UT football important. When he took over in the 30s we were lousy while TCU, SMU and soon aggy had NC seasons. After making UT a power, he served as AD and hired a relatively unknown DKR.

Another...Roosevelt Leaks. UT was late to the integration party and there was plenty of negative press for UT re race in the early 70s. Rosey was UT's first black superstar and others soon followed. I think his role in UT's history is under appreciated.

Anyway, just something to ponder.

I was thinking about Seismore, too, and can you really forget Appleton?

Agree with Roosevelt Leaks and his impact on the program. I was fortunate to see all his high school games. Bobby Layne and Nobis also deserve to be on the Mount.
