The players on that 83 DF team were sophomores and freshmen when I played. Several of them were elevated to varsity and played with me in '82. In 1980, I played against that state champion Pittsburg team. I've never hurt so much in my life than I did after that game.

The difference in the two . . . Pittsburg had some good, really good players. But they weren't across the board talented. DF had talent at every position and depth that was uncommon for a 3A school. DF's third string RB could have started for almost any team in the state. The secondary was the state champion mile relay team. 

Pittsburg had a shutout record that Daingerfield broke (14 shutouts). And we will never see anything like it again.

I'd say GP North Shore by 14. They've apparently gotten it together now. Not sure if Evans is playing anymore.
