Sucking up to the Sooner crowd (Though he spelled it Sonner).

Unless things have changed, Im told the guy wont qualify academically at Texas. I am assuming (serious question) admission standards at OU are lower?

Technically academic standards for scholarship athletes are the same.
Explain why a kid cant get into Notre Dame but can get into OU? Im interested to hear how this actually works.

Schools like Texas, Notre Dame, Stanford and the like don't bend their regular academic standards to allow athletes in. The NCAA has minimum requirements for athletes. Schools aren't required to adhere to those if their standards are higher. Some schools aren't going to "dumb" down their requirements.

It's similar to the Prop-48 standards that conferences allowed. Nebraska lived off those guys for years until Texas came in and put their foot down and by and large cut hat completely out. The NCAA allowed Prop-48 kids, but the conference did not.

And that's what happened to Nebraska football, and part of why Osbourne can't stand us.

Which made the jump to the academically tougher B1G all the more intelligent :)

Go back and look at every vote that occurred during the formation of the Big 12. Pretty much every one was 11-1 with the 1 being Nebraska. The formation of the Big 12 was the death knell for Nebraska football as everyone had known it from the Big 8 days. And they are never going to recover. There were also changes made to their walk on program that they lived on for years.

Come on now, Vince Young wasn't the most intelligent. Some standards MIGHT have been bent

Don't forget Texas has Garnett's HS teammate, Jermaine Roberts, as a commit as well. These two also play with concensus #1 recruit (2014 class) RB Leonard Fournette. St. Augustine HS in NOLA is a breeding ground for athletes.

You are crazy if you think Texas athletes have the same entrance requirements as the general student population. Unless you think the entire football team was in the top 8% of their HS class and if not are making some insane scores on the SAT while making straight A's in HS.

I probably shouldn't have listed Texas on the same level as the ND's and Stanford's. But there's no question that Texas is more difficult to get into than OU or OSU and the like.

It p!sses me off to no end that this doesn't get discussed more openly. Another thing that people don't understand is that Colorado had more alumni in Calif than in all the then-non-Colorado Big 12 footprint, so when conference realignment became possible, their alumni pushed to have Colorado move to the Pac so their fans could see them play more often. Instead of discussing these facts, aggy has gotten away with claiming they ran away to escape the oppressive tactics of Texas.

Nick fu@king Voinis could have made sure the image of UT wasn't dragged through the mud by the lies aggy was spewing in the national media, but he was too god-damned fat and Jabba-esque lazy to do his job and instead let UT get portrayed as it has been. Patterson can't fire some people inside Bellmont soon enough for me. I will never understand why a few facts couldn't be explained to the national sports media.

It's mind numbingly stupid at how we allowed aggy to control the dialogue on their way out the door. Another funny factor is that aggy left kicking and screaming because of the unequal revenue sharing that existed in the Big 12. Of course it wasn't an issue when they were on TV every week and one of the schools benefitting from the money so much. Nor the fact that I believe they were one of the schools who pushed for it the most during the formation of the Big 12 if my memory serves me correctly.

The lack of rebuttal from our athletic department and university was just appalling to me. And still is.

This is part of the reason for my position that Nick Voinis needs to be one of the first people to be fired. I've never claimed that Nick should have manipulated the media in any way. Rather, I believe it was his responsibility to see that the information necessary to understand the truth was made available, both to the media at large and to the general public via the internet.

It would have been incredibly easy to have information regarding the votes of conference members made public. Claims that conference decisions could not be transparent are crap. Matters regarding discussions and deliberations could be withheld to allow free and open discussions, but as for the votes themselves, there should have been a huge neon arrow pointing to the data concerning the questions voted on and the votes of member schools. People still deserve to know the basic facts of the issues related to the controversies of Big 12 member schools.

Nick is getting paid $180k/yr and his quite simply isn't earning his salary. Its disgusting.

There are always 3-5 commits every year that decommit between now and signing day. I predict more in the coming weeks.

This post is a classic example of one of the problems here. Its "expected" for us to have that many walk at the last second.
