***Texas Baseball vs Oklahoma State Weekend Game Thread***

Was feelingbad enough after game. Now feeling

worse after reading Pierce's remarks If one can not teach your pitchers to throwstrikes he should not be coaching or recruiting is at fault.

Fielding andhitting are great pitching out of the pen ?

Top offense  my ass; the offense is more like the Rangers and the Pitching is more than 1 pitcher being missed. Lots of mental blocks .
Truth is, this offense has been scoring plenty of runs. Yes, they had a bad day on Saturday but scored enough on Friday and Sunday to win the game had the pitching not struggled so mightily. They are ranked 23rd in the NCAA in runs scored while playing at the notoriously hitter unfriendly DF field. They have already set a team record for HRs for a season.

This team has some issues with pitching but I don't think you can really be that down on this offense.

This team on offense on Sunday should have won, but this team as a whole for the year as has a great year offensively.  But at no point in time on Friday or Saturday was that great.   As I've  already stated if you looked pointed out the homeruns record, but it didn't  make a difference in the game. Furthermore,  watching on Saturday  during the bottom of the 6th inning, the Okie Lite pitcher had location issues, Trey was an easy out as one someone behind him as they swang at balls that the ump was finally calling balls.

This has been a constant issue for this team as was with teams'.

Stop with the whole team on offense  and basing the pitching on 1 dude that has been out for over a month.

The team isn't  as good as anyone thought and that's not due to 1 pitcher. It's due to not timely hitting and poor pitching overall.

Joey, has the pitchers stop  listening to the pitching coach and head coach? Or is there something different going on?

That will change. Texas was flat out embarrassed yesterday. We may not even be seeded at the end of the season.

In the 6th when okie lite put up 7 runs with 2 outs, Tristan got screwed on a call that should have ended the inning w/no damage done. Granted it wouldn't have changed the outcome of the game but that "ball" was definitely a "strike" for the 3rd out!
Totally agree  with you on both. That was a strike.  But the 3 run homerun and the fact that we swung as some really bad pitches inthe bottom of the 6th might hve changed the score at least. Plus Ivan might have gotten a basehit in the 6th.

Man, I left the game it was 7-0 Texas heading to the bottom of the 6th. We were having some drinks with some friends, I checked the game and it was 10-7 okie lite!

Well it may be safe to say Texas lost their Top 16 seeding this weekend. If Texas doesn't go to the CWS this year, especially after being the preseason #1 team, is it time to start looking for a new HC?

Totally inept pitching . No excuse. Coach Pierce needs to be harder on the players, especially the starters and the relievers. No excuse whatsoever allowing 10 runs in one 1 inning. Horn fans are used to winning consistently, whether at home or on the road.

Due to some typos I am having a hard time following the meaning of your response. My overall point is that any team scoring 8 runs a game does not have an overall offense problem. Yes, in certain games or in certain situations the offense hasn't come through. That is part of baseball though, a game where succeeding 1 out of 3 times at the plate will send you to the hall of fame. If the pitching was average to good this weekend, we go 2-1 this series.

I don't understand what you are referencing about "basing the pitching on 1 dude". Perhaps me mentioning in the past that the wheels fell off at Witt got injured. That is what happened but that is because every pitcher on the staff has seemed to struggle since that moment and I have yet to see a good explanation for that. Hansen has been pretty good most starts and Gordon has done well as the Sunday starter. Outside of that, everyone has had some bad moments.

You can now add that we are no longer ranked. Huge disappointment of a season.
And aggy, in a rebuilding year, is #13. CDC should have brought Jim Schlossnagle with him.
