He's the best P Texas has seen this season.  He's got some filthy stuff.
and will probably be one of the best by the end of the season too. Scratching across a run would be huge against him, next best would be to at least make him work and get to the pen by the 6th inning.

I'm getting the feeling this will be a pitcher's duel tonight.

Gotta keep putting pressure on this pitcher like we did in the 3rd. Even though we are striking out we are putting together some decent at bats to make him work.

One complaint I have about the coaching, they seem to like for the hitter to take on the first pitch.

This team has shown they're patient up to this point.  Tonight there has also been some swinging at the first pitch, (i.e. the F9 on one pitch an inning or so back.)  Additionally, this P has some nasty stuff and has the Texas hitters confused at times.

First inning was too easy for Burns when they were swinging early. I think by taking a pitch, they tested his control and made him work longer into counts.

This approach is also why we were one of the most walked teams in the nation last year. It's a small ball approach for sure but it can certainly pay off when all 9 guys are stressing the pitcher.

I'm not just talking about tonight. By my recollection this was going on against Rice and Alabama.

In a lot of those instances, the opposing Ps could not hit water out of a boat.  So yeah, they were probably instructed to take until they got a strike.

Look no further than this reliever and his issues locating.

Love how we are showing the veteran leadership and keeping the pressure on opposing pitching/fielding errors.

I bow to your knowledge.
