I'll try to toss some things in this thread Mark.  A couple of things to keep in mind; A) the way I do twitter PBP is not really conducive to cut/paste unless I'm linking a ton of tweets here, and B ) while I wish there were more dialogue with the members, doing a game thread with hardly any member participation, well, it causes a bit of a 'why' factor. 

Something of note today, Miss St and Arky both fell in their home openers today, Miss St to #24 Long Beach St and Arky to UR Illinois St.

Rice is breaking in a new coach this year.  They will be competitive but they're still a few years away from being really good.  IMO.

It is, but it was also Rice.  That said, that's how you should win games versus lesser opponents.  Hansen looked really good last night for 6 frames.  Extended Sthele a bit too far, not sure why, but he looked good in 7&8 and Southard was dominant in the 9th.
