To me, this article is part of the vapor that Jesus mentioned two weeks ago. I'm sure boosters at Alabama are getting nervous and may be ready to say things to the public in Alabama. A smoke screen was needed to keep the natives calm until the championship game.
Like others have said, Terry won't be badgered in the future for lying in this article. Plus, there are signs in the article itself that she isn't being truthful and also some reasons for leaving to fall back on in future interviews:
The first couple of Alabama football may be standing on top of the world, but it isn't necessarily thrilled by the view.
This lays it out right here. I can hear it now, "Well, they said they weren't happy with the way they were treated in Alabama". Meanwhile, Texas has been selling out games the last four years with Mack going 0.500...
Some reports said Terry Saban had been house hunting in Austin. Asked if the report was accurate, Terry Saban called them "rumors with absolutely no foundation."
OK, we don't know if they've purchased a house here for certain, although that seems a strong possibility. But we DO know she was here with a realtor and security contractors. So in this article is a bold face lie. Maybe there are others?
In each case, they have made improvements without sinking deep roots. They have pledged their allegiance to the community but fought hard for resources.
Another reason to leave Alabama. Jesus mentioned weeks ago that one of the reasons Saban would like it here is that he would have virtually unlimited resources at Texas.
Terry said that years ago, rebuilding a football program used to be "even more fun than winning" but that it has lost its appeal as the couple has aged (Nick is 62 and Terry is 61).
Yet another reason Saban would think about leaving a great program. Counters several poster's argument on this board who can't see him leaving something he has already built. I'm not buying their age being too old to do it again.
"We are trying to educate ourselves, to change ourselves," Terry said. "We can't change expectations or change lack of appreciation. We have to change our mind-set. We have decided: this is where we are going to end our career."
So to stay in Alabama, THEY need to change themselves? Really? I don't buy it. Although saying that they plan on ending their career at Alabama is the most direct refutal of going to Texas, can it be trusted? We already know there is at least one other lie in this article.
